Scouting Report

When Jordan arrived at Oregon as a tight end, he probably didn't expect to eventually be selected in the top 10 in the NFL draft on the other side of the ball. But that looks like a real possibility for the versatile defensive end, who may end up as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at the next level after playing in a hybrid format in college. The Ducks shifted him to defense before his sophomore season in 2010 and he thrived, totaling 12 1/2 sacks over the past two years and earning an All-Pac-12 first-team nod in 2011. He thinks his unique experience gives him an advantage. "I understand the game. I understand defenses," Jordan said at the NFL combine. "Because I played on the offensive side of the ball, I understand a lot of the offensive schemes also." Scouts probably view his extremely long frame and elite athleticism as even bigger assets, especially in the pass rush but also against the run and even in coverage. Those qualities were on full display at the combine, where his 4.60-second 40-yard dash was among the best for his position. Jordan announced at the combine that he needed shoulder surgery to correct a torn labrum, which could affect his workouts as he tries to get stronger for his first NFL season. But he said he expects to be ready for training camp and he's trying to turn the injury, which happened in the middle of the season, into a positive. "I feel like it shows my toughness that I finished the season, I stayed through with my team," Jordan said. His former coach, Chip Kelly, has the No. 4 pick with Philadelphia, but even if the Eagles don't opt for a reunion, Jordan won't stay on the board long.
