EJ Manuel, QB
- Height: 6-foot-5
- Weight: 240 pounds
- School: Florida State
Blessed with tremendous physical tools and immense talent, Manuel's stock has steadily risen heading into the draft. He's the second quarterback in FBS history to win four straight bowl games, twice subbing for an injured Christian Ponder in his first two seasons with Florida State. Manuel led the Seminoles to the ACC title this past season, throwing for 3,392 yards and 23 touchdowns for an offense that produced a school-record 6,591 yards. His 66.9 career completion percentage is the best in school history and he finished third on the Seminoles' all-time list with 7,736 passing yards. Manuel took over as the full-time starter his junior season after Ponder was a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings. After a solid week at the Senior Bowl, Manuel turned in a strong NFL scouting combine. He ran a 4.65 40-yard dash to rank second among quarterbacks behind West Virginia's Geno Smith. Manuel's 34-inch vertical leap topped all QBs and his 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump was again second to only Smith. His 7.08-second effort in the 3-cone drill and 4.21-second, 20-yard shuttle run were also impressive. With the proliferation of read-option schemes, Manuel may be an excellent fit because of his dual-threat ability - he ran for 310 yards in 2012. Manuel reportedly interviewed well at the combine, opening up about how difficult his senior season was personally since his mother was receiving cancer treatment. In retrospect, that may partially account for his four-turnover performance in his final home game against Florida. He is clearly one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft, although it's unclear if he will be taken in round one.
