Andrew Datko, T
- Height: 6-foot-6
- Weight: 311 pounds
- School: Florida State
Considered a potential first-round pick going into his senior season, Datko might drop to the middle rounds due to the injury bug. Shoulder problems caused Datko to miss three games as a junior at Florida State, bothered him during spring camp and ended his 2011 season after four games. He would undergo surgery on that injured shoulder, just as he did after his junior year in high school. When Datko was on the field, he was among the most reliable left tackles in the country. The four-year starter allowed four sacks over his final three seasons and was penalized just six times in his final 24 games. The former walk-on was considered a 'tireless worker' by the Seminoles coaching staff, and what further attracts NFL teams to Datko is a man of his size having such good feet. He excelled in agility drills at the NFL combine, including a second-place finish in the 20-yard shuttle. However, Datko must improve his strength because the bigger bull rushers of the NFL could overpower him. The south Florida native is quick off the line and a very competent run blocker, showing drive and quickness that allow him to effectively block downfield or in pulling situations. Datko was a preseason all-ACC selection after a junior year in which he allowed one sack in 11 games despite playing against top defenses, including Oklahoma, Miami, Florida, Clemson and Virginia Tech. Datko makes up for average athletic ability by being technically sound, using his hands properly to keep defenders occupied.
