D.J. Fluker, OL

  • Height: 6-foot-6
  • Weight: 335 pounds
  • School: Alabama

Scouting Report

As a right tackle at Alabama, Fluker helped running backs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson reach the NFL. Now he'll join them in the league, potentially as a first-round draft pick. Fluker started all 27 games in the Crimson Tide's runs to back-to-back BCS titles and helped pave the way for the school's first pair of 1,000-yard rushers in 2012, Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon. For his part, Fluker was named first team all-SEC and a second team All-American. After deciding to leave Alabama following his junior season, Fluker made history by becoming one of the first non-seniors to be invited to the Senior Bowl thanks to a new rule, but groin and hamstring injuries kept him from playing in the game. He took part in the NFL combine and showed up slimmer than at the Senior Bowl. Fluker reportedly weighed 400 pounds in the eighth grade and remained around that weight when he showed up at Alabama, which played a part in the program's decision to redshirt the highly rated high school prospect. Fluker showed enough commitment to losing weight that he earned the starting job at right tackle the next season, starting nine games and missing parts of four others due to a groin injury. Fluker might need to polish his pass-blocking skills if he wants to shine at the next level but he's faced much bigger challenges in his life. Originally from New Orleans, he and his family were forced to leave because of Hurricane Katrina. Fluker then played at three high schools in three years, two in Alabama and another in Mississippi.
