Edwin Baker, RB
- Height: 5-foot-9
- Weight: 208 pounds
- School: Michigan State
Baker's decision to leave Michigan State after his junior season came as a shock to many, though the running back may not have had much of a choice. He had a stellar sophomore season in 2010, rushing for 1,246 yards and 13 touchdowns on 207 carries while starting full-time. Baker's carries decreased in 2011, as Le'Veon Bell took over the starting job. Baker ran for 721 yards and five touchdowns on 170 carries as a junior, but he fell out of favor in coach Mark Dantonio's system, which called for a two- or three-back rotation that Baker didn't seem to embrace. He decided to take his chances with the draft rather than spend another season behind Bell. Baker used his low center of gravity to push through inside linemen and break away for long runs in 2010 - he ran for at least 12 yards on a single run in 11 of 13 games that season, including a pair of 80-yard sprints - but didn't have a rush over 25 yards in 2011 and scored only five touchdowns. Baker's 4.53 40-yard dash at the NFL combine proves he has solid speed, though he'll need to prove his disappointing junior season was merely based off a system adjustment at Michigan State rather than a decrease in abilities.
