Scouting Report

Considered one of the top safeties available in the draft, Reid appears headed for stardom in the NFL. This former LSU standout decided to forgo his senior season after recording 91 tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions in 2012, earning All-SEC first team honors. Reid's combination of size, speed, athleticism and explosiveness separate him from the pack, attributes he showed off at the NFL combine. Reid finished tied for third among all players and tied for first among defensive backs with a distance of 134.0 inches in the broad jump. He also tied for first among safeties with a height of 40.5 inches in the vertical jump and fifth with a time of 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash. In addition to a remarkable skill set, Reid has a good head on his shoulders and figures to make an immediate impact at the next level. He's already proven to be a leader on and off the field and is always looking to get better. Durability doesn't figure to be an issue after Reid missed only one game over the course of his collegiate career. Reid, though, was called for more than his fair share of penalties at LSU, and will likely need to learn to play more under control in the pros. While Reid plays the ball well in the air, he has plenty of room to improve against the run. An extremely hard hitter, Reid should be fun to watch on Sundays. He doesn't figure to slip past the second round.
