Alec Ogletree, LB
- Height: 6-foot-3
- Weight: 232 pounds
- School: Georgia
Ogletree's draft status faces numerous questions due to a disturbing series of off-field concerns. The linebacker left Georgia after his junior season, and there is little doubt that he has the talent to be a surefire first-round pick. Whether he can be relied upon is his biggest issue since his DUI arrest the weekend before the NFL combine continued a stunning pattern of poor judgment. Ogletree was suspended for the first four games of 2012 for a violation of team rules, and was also suspended one game before his college career even began two seasons earlier for stealing a helmet off a motor scooter on campus. He met with 25 teams at the combine, and many of the questions were about his behavior. There are far less concerns about his physical attributes. Ogletree ranked ninth among linebackers with a 4.70 40-yard dash, sixth in the broad jump at 122 inches, and seventh in the vertical leap at 33.5 inches. His athleticism stems from his high school days as a safety, a position he also played as a freshman with Georgia before he put on weight and shifted to linebacker. Ogletree is considered a prototypical inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. He claims he's a "good person at heart," but it's not clear if he fully realizes that he has put himself in a bad position. He told reporters at the combine about his latest arrest: "I don't really know what it's going to do. But like I said, I feel bad about it and I'm really sorry about it and I just have to move forward and take it, whatever I get." Ogletree is considered to be far more talented than another linebacker known for poor decision-making - Notre Dame's Manti Te'o.
