By now you've seen the play more than 100 times: the controversial touchdown pass hauled in by Golden Tate. But actually there was a full 60-minute game played Monday night. Although the Seahawks won on a desperate loft into the end zone, which was called an interception, then a touchdown, which was reviewed and confirmed, Seattle deserved to win as the Packers looked sloppy in a 14-12 loss. Following an eight-sack first half, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy made some adjustments in the second half. Showing multiple tight end sets, the Green Bay offense was able to get running back Cedric Benson going. Although the Packers didn’t score a touchdown on the first drive of the second half, they were able to chew up half the third quarter with a 14-play drive that was capped by a Mason Crosby field goal. That momentum was all they needed as they scored on three consecutive series. Of course, that couldn't prepare them for the last-second finish.

The final play was the most egregious and deserves the most ridicule, respectively. But it wasn't even the final play that dictated the freak finish. Several phantom defensive pass interference calls were made in Seattle's second-to-last series, which allowed the Seahawks to hang around. Flags flew all night as 24 penalties were called, which equated to 245 yards in penalties.

It happened again. It took three weeks, but the replacement refs' call on the final play dictated the result of another game. A day after the Patriots' lost on a disputed field goal against the Ravens, the Packers might have gotten the short end of the stick. Russell Wilson lofted a desperation pass into the end zone and what happened next is open to interpretation. Packers cornerback M.D. Jennings leaped to make the interception, but third-year wide receiver Golden Tate was able to get an arm tangled with Jennings. Two refs were nearby to make the call and two different calls were made. One an INT and the other was a touchdown. The play was reviewed and was later upheld by the refs.

Russell Wilson doesn’t have the arm strength. Russell Wilson doesn’t have the prototypical height to be an NFL passer. Guess what? Russell Wilson doesn’t care. While Wilson might not have all the measurables, he can run an NFL offense and he did it with efficiency against one of the league’s best units. Whether it's checking down to receivers or going over the top for a first-quarter 41-yard touchdown to Golden Tate, Wilson proved a lot of naysayers wrong on the Monday night national stage.

Aaron Rodgers was sacked eight times — yes, you read that right — in the FIRST HALF. Chris Clemons, who racked up four of them, teamed with rookies Bobby Wagner and Bruce Irvin to bring consistent pressure. It has been noted that Seattle fields an above-average secondary, but it’s time to give this unit some real consideration as the league’s best. Most of the pressure that was created by Seattle’s defense was result of excellent pass coverage.
