Football fans have been waiting for a coaching rematch between the Harbaugh brothers since Thanksgiving 2011. That Thanksgiving game was the first time brothers faced off against each other as NFL head coaches. That really ups the ante for the Super Bowl as the brothers get set to make history again by facing off on February 3rd.The Harbaughs are not the only siblings to match up on a big sports stage ...

Eli (left) and Peyton (right) have faced off two times in the NFL regular season. Peyton led the Indianapolis Colts to a 26-21 win over Eli’s Giants. The Colts also blew the Giants out 38-14 in the 2010 rematch. Now that Peyton is quarterbacking another AFC team in the Denver Broncos, there is hope for a Manning brothers Super Bowl. Until that happens, the brothers’ duel in this year’s Pro Bowl will have to do.

In terms of sibling rivalries, the competition is quite robust between Serena (left) and Venus (right). As the elder sister, Venus burst onto the tennis scene first, but Serena holds the advantage in head-to-head matchups, leading 13-10. Serena has an even better winning percentage in Grand Slam Finals. She leads Venus 6-2.
 

The Barber brothers broke into the NFL in 1997. Although Tiki (left) retired from the NFL in 2006, Ronde (right) still plays cornerback for the Tampa Buccaneers. Ronde leads the head to head matchup between the two, 3-2.

Twin brothers Rex (left) and Rob (right) have only faced off twice as opposing coaches, with each brother winning once. As the first-year head coach of the New York Jets, Rex coached his team to a 16-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders – the same team where Rob was defensive coordinator. After Rob became defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys in 2011, the Jets beat the Cowboys 27-24 that same year.

Shannon (left) and Sterling (right) split the two NFL games they played against each other. Instead of relishing the opportunity, Shannon Sharpe has stated that the games were not joyful. It probably helps that each brother has tasted victory and felt the pain of defeat in their rivalry.

The Gasol brothers find themselves in a unique position – each playing for the other’s former team. Pau (left) began his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies, winning Rookie of the Year while with the team. In 2008, the Grizzlies traded him to the Lakers and in return received his brother Marc (right). Marc had been drafted by the Lakers in the 2007 draft. This season Pau and the Lakers are 0-2 against Marc and the Grizzlies.

Joe (middle) and Dominic (right) DiMaggio have a family sports connection so incredible, the story seems more like a Hollywood blockbuster than real-life. Joe played his way into the Hall of Fame with the New York Yankees while Dominic made his mark for the rival Boston Red Sox. While Joe set an MLB record with a 56-game hitting streak, Dominic set a Red Sox record with a 34-game hitting streak of his own.

Both Terry (right) and Bobby (left) have reached the pinnacle of their sport – both have won a series championship. Bobby won his 2000 Winston Cup championship after brother Terry took home the championship in 1984 and 1996. 

Despite being the younger brother, Julius (left) has dominated his NFL matchups with older brother Thomas (right). In Julius’ rookie season in Dallas, the Cowboys handed Thomas’ Chicago Bears a loss on Thanksgiving Day. In the brothers’ second matchup, Julius’ Cowboys again came away with the win, this time against Thomas and the New York Jets. In 2008 Julius joined the Seattle Seahawks and beat Thomas’ Jets 13-3.
