News: Collie, a fourth round pick out of BYU, is battling Roy Hall and Pierre Garcon for the third wide receiver position following the release of Marvin Harrison and Anthony Gonzalez's move to the outside, the Indianapolis Star reports. [+]
Impact: The 24-year-old rookie is learning the playbook and working with Peyton Manning to become the next productive Colt's slot receiver. ( RotoWire - Fri. Jun 19, 2009) |
News: Garcon appears to be the leading candidate to take over the Colts' third receiving spot, the Indianapolis Star reports. [+]
Impact: Garcon will be pushed by Roy Hall and rookie Austin Collie. Obviously in a pass-heavy offense like the Colts the position is one to keep an eye on, especially if one of Reggie Wayne or Anthony Gonzalez were to go down. ( RotoWire - Thu. Jun 11, 2009) |

Shane Andrus (IND) News: Andrus signed with the Colts on Tuesday, the Indianapolis Star reports. [+]
Impact: Andrus, who has had stints with the Colts during the 2006 and 2007 preseasons, was signed a week after Adam Vinatieri had surgery on his right hip. The Colts expect Vinatieri to be back for the start of the season but signed Andrus until he's back. ( RotoWire - Tue. Jun 9, 2009)

News: The Texans released Brink, the Texans' official site reports. [+]
Impact: Once Houston signed Rex Grossman, Brink's spot was in jeopardy. ( RotoWire - Mon. Jun 29, 2009) |

Glover Quin (HOU) News: Texans general manager Richard Smith was pleased with Quin's play during organized team activities and minicamp, the Texans' official reports. [+]
Impact: Houston drafted Quin in the fourth round (112th overall) in the NFL draft, looking at him as both a cornerback and safety. "It's interesting because as we came out of the draft, a lot of people said he didn't have skills to play on the edge and play corner. A lot of people had projected him at safety. We felt comfortable with his skill set and thought he could play on the edge, and sure enough he came in and did a nice job. We put him inside at the Nickel position. He did a nice job of learning. That's a very complicated position to play because you have to learn run fits as well as pass, underneath zone coverage he did a nice job with that." Quin got a lot of field time with the yet-unsigned Dunta Robinson boycotting the OTAs and minicamp. ( RotoWire - Fri. Jun 19, 2009) |
News: Brown signed a four-year, $10 million contract extension with the Texans on Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports. [+]
Impact: Brown has developed into one of the most consistent kickers in the league. Last season he connected on 29 of 33 field goal attempts, and 10 of 13 from beyond 40 yards. ( RotoWire - Wed. Jun 17, 2009)
