News: Foster (calf strain) said that he will "more than likely" be ready for training camp, ESPN.com reports. "It's just a small calf strain," according to Foster. "News is dry in the offseason, so it made headlines." [+]
Impact: While it's somewhat notable that Foster isn't totally sure that he'll be ready for camp, it sounds like he plans to be, barring any setbacks and overall he is downplaying the issue. For his part, coach Gary Kubiak noted last month that the running back had a "pretty good calf strain" at the time, but with training camp more than a month away, Foster still has time to get up to speed and, in turn, justify his high ADP in fantasy drafts. News: Cushing (knee) said Friday that he'll be cleared by Dr. James Andrews on July 17, Nick Scurfield of the Texans' official site. [+]
Impact: The 26-year-old underwent surgery this offseason to repair a torn ACL, but Cushing said Friday that he'll be cleared nine days before the start of training camp. ( RotoWire - Fri. June 14, 2013) |
News: Hopkins worked out with the first team during Houston's mini-camp, the Texans' official site reports. [+]
Impact: Hopkins, the Texans' first-round pick in 2013, was a starter during organized team activities, too. Playing with Houston's veteran starters has been helpful to his development. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013)

News: Lester, an undrafted rookie free agent, has seen some first-team reps during OTAs and minicamp, ESPN.com reports. [+]
Impact: The secondary is far and away Carolina's most glaring weakness, so it wouldn't be shocking if an undrafted free agent managed to work his way into some playing time. The Panthers have a trio of experienced safeties -- Charles Godfrey, Mike Mitchell, and Haruki Nakamura -- but none of them are particularly good and only Godfrey seems to be assured of a starting job. All that being said, Lester is likely just hoping to make the team and probably shouldn't be on the IDP radar at this point. ( RotoWire - Fri. June 14, 2013) |
News: LaFell is "locked in" as a starter, according to the Associated Press. [+]
Impact: The wording might be a bit strong, but LaFell certainly seems to have the inside track to the No. 2 receiver job, despite struggling in that very same role last season. Offseason addition Domenik Hixon showed some flashes during his time with the Giants, and fellow newcomer Tedd Ginn Jr. has the speed to threaten defenses and make an impact in the screen game. There are clearly serious questions behind surefire No. 1 receiver Steve Smith, so we'd probably hold off on calling anybody a lock for anything at the moment. Training camp and the preseason should help to sort things out. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013) |
News: Edwards was named by coach Ron Rivera as the receiver who has shown the most improvement during OTAs and minicamp, the Charlotte Observer reports. [+]
Impact: Edwards is best known for quarterbacking Appalachian State to a win over Michigan in 2007. He's been in the NFL for three years now on the fringe of the Carolina roster, but has caught just five passes for 121 yards. While it sounds like he is on the right side of the roster bubble at the moment, Edwards will still probably need a solid training camp to make the team. His best case scenario is probably an outside shot at the No. 3 receiver job. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013)
