News: Broyles (knee) believes he will be ready for Week 1, the Detroit News reports. [+]
Impact: Broyles fully participated in individual drills during minicamp, and was even "going full blast in the weight room," despite tearing his right ACL just six months ago. Expect the second-year receiver to compete for snaps behind veterans Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson in the coming season. ( RotoWire - Mon. June 17, 2013) |
News: While the Lions have been managing Leshoure's (hamstring) practice time this offseason, he was able to take part fully in the team's minicamp last week, the Detroit Free Press reports. [+]
Impact: Leshoure's first two NFL seasons have been hampered by injuries, but he's hoping to stay healthy enough this year to gain a level of consistency that he hasn't achieved at the NFL level to date. That's something on the radar of his coach, with Jim Schwartz noting, "I think his biggest room for improvement is consistency from week to week, whether it's physical or else wise." Meanwhile, the team has added Reggie Bush to the backfield mix, so besides staying in one piece, cementing a heavy lifting/short-yardage role in the Lions' offense is Leshoure's ticket to 2013 fantasy relevance. ( RotoWire - Mon. June 17, 2013) |
News: Broyles (knee) was the "biggest surprise" of the Lions' OTAs, the team's official site reports. [+]
Impact: Despite being less than six months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, Broyles was able to participate fully in all aspects of minicamp. While he is not yet 100 percent, it didn't stop him from making plays across the middle, which will be an important portion of the field for the Lions to take advantage of, with Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew, and Reggie Bush all drawing attention in the passing game. Broyles is only entering his second season, though, so expectations should be tempered somewhat, even with all the talent surrounding him. ( RotoWire - June 16, 2013) | |

Impact: An officer attempted to pull over Peters after he and another driver accelerated at excessive speeds at the change of a stoplight, but Peters ignored the officer's emergency lights and sped onward to a highway exit. He was later stopped at a shopping center and was handcuffed and shuttled to a nearby jail. Peters, a five-time Pro Bowler, missed all of last season with after tearing his Achilles' tendon on two occasions but had looked healthy during OTAs earlier this month. ( RotoWire - Wed.
