News: Goodson has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a loaded gun, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. [+]
Impact: Goodson was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver was charged with a DUI and possession of a handgun. This isn't exactly going to help Goodson's chances of earning the Jets' No. 1 RB spot. ( RotoWire - Fri. May 17, 2013) |
News: Goodson is facing drug and weapons charges after he was found in a car with an acquaintance early Friday morning on Interstate 80 in New Jersey. The Jets said they were aware of the arrest and were gathering information. [+]
Impact: Sgt. Adam Grossman says both men were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and three weapons charges stemming from a handgun found in the vehicle. Goodson played three seasons for Carolina and one for Oakland before the Jets signed him to a three-year deal in the offseason. ( STATS - Fri. May 17, 2013) |
News: McKnight smacked down speculation that he could be the odd man out in the New York Jets' crowded backfield, saying they'd have to "kill me" to take his spot. [+]
Impact: The running back, entering his fourth season, says Thursday that he doesn't care who the Jets bring in at the position and he's going to "prove" he belongs. New York, which allowed Shonn Greene to leave as a free agent, has McKnight, Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson, Bilal Powell and John Griffin as running backs on the roster. ( STATS - Thu. May 16, 2013)

News: Gronkowski is slated to undergo a fourth procedure on his left forearm Monday, the Boston Herald reports. [+]
Impact: Gronkowski, who also may need back surgery this offseason, must first have his arm issue addressed, with Monday's procedure slated to determine whether or not the infection in his arm has completely cleared up. If so, the next step would entail replacing the plate currently in his forearm with a new one. Once that happens, the tight end is looking at a 10-11 week recovery period. In any case, things will need to proceed smoothly (with both his arm and back) going forward in order for Gronkowski to be ready to go come Week 1, with his prognosis on that front hopefully on tap to become a little clearer in the coming days. ( RotoWire - May 19, 2013) |
News: Gronkowski underwent an MRI on his back and may require surgery to correct a disc issue. [+]
Impact: Gronkowski is already dealing with complications from arm surgery, and he is undergoing a fourth surgery on his arm next week. Gronkowski is scheduled to meet with a spine specialist following the procedure to determine whether or not surgery will be required on his back. In 2009, he underwent surgery to "shave down" a disc in his back, but the present issue is not believed to be related. ( RotoWire - Fri. May 17, 2013) |
News: Gronkowski would require about 10 weeks to recover from back surgery if the procedure is necessary, ESPN Boston reports. [+]
Impact: After undergoing an MRI on his back recently to check up on a disk issue, Gronkowski will now meet with spine specalist Robert Watkins in the coming days to determine what the best course of action will be. Gronkowski is already nursing a broken forearm that will require surgery for the fourth time, which is also expected to occur in the near future. The two injuries make it seem unlikely that he'll be completely healthy entering training camp. ( RotoWire - Fri. May 17, 2013)
