News: With the news that Victor Butler will miss the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, Galette could start at strong side outside linebacker in the Saints' 3-4 defense. Galette, who battled injuries the past few years, recorded a career-high five sacks in 2012. [+]
Impact: Galette played defensive end his first three seasons in New Orleans after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2010. While he is better suited as a weak side linebacker in a 3-4 defense - the strong side position is expected to drop into coverage more often - Galette could find himself competing for the starting position vacated in Butler's absence if the Saints decide to reshuffle their defense. With 9.5 sacks in limited playing time the last two years, Galette would make for an interesting IDP sleeper if he can secure a starting spot. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013) |
News: With the news that Victor Butler will miss the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, Johnson could vie for a starting position at strong side outside linebacker in the Saints' 3-4 defense. Johnson was drafted by New Orleans in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Tarleton State. [+]
Impact: While Martez Wilson likely has the inside edge to start, he is unproven and Johnson turned some heads as a pass rusher during OTAs last week. If Johnson can build on his strong offseason performance thus far, he has a chance to earn significant playing time and perhaps a starting position, which would make him an interesting sleeper in IDP leagues. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013) |
News: With Victor Butler out for the season with a torn ACL, Wilson is the most likely candidate to start at strong side outside linebacker in the Saints' 3-4 defense. [+]
Impact: The loss of Butler hurts the Saints' team defense, but Wilson is a young and athletic prospect who could thrive as a pass rush specialist. The Saints could go in a number of directions to replace Butler, including looking to add a player via free agency or moving David Hawthorne outside, but if Wilson can secure the starting job in training camp over the likes of Junior Galette, Rufus Johnson and Chase Thomas, he could make for an interesting sleeper in IDP leagues. News: Smith continued to get reps with the first team in the nickel offense Wednesday during OTA's, according to the Pewter Report. [+]
Impact: The plan is to have Doug Martin be a three-down back in 2013, but there will be times when Martin will need a breather, so the Bucs are looking for a capable back that can come in and pass protect and catch the ball out of the backfield. It appears Smith as of now could be the leader to be the No.2 RB for the Bucs in 2013. Smith, who may also factor in the return game for the Bucs in 2013, could be an interesting fantasy option were Martin to get hurt at some point. ( RotoWire - Fri. June 14, 2013) |
News: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed Hagan. The eighth-year pro has appeared in 83 games, mostly as a reserve, during his NFL career. [+]
Impact: He has 129 career receptions for 1,480 yards and six touchdowns with the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders. Hagan had 20 catches for 259 yards for the Raiders last season. To make room on the roster Thursday, the Bucs waived rookie receiver Jheranie Boyd. ( STATS - Thu. June 13, 2013) |
News: Williams is close to signing a new deal with the Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Times reports. [+]
Impact: Williams, a fourth-round pick in 2010, is looking to sign a new contract with the Buccaneers before his rookie deal expires at the end of the upcoming season. The 26-year-old has averaged 64 catches through his first three NFL seasons and totaled a career-high 996 receiving yards last season to go with nine touchdowns. It would be no surprise if Tampa Bay locked up their No. 2 wideout before training camp. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013) | |
