News: Miller opened up OTAs running with the Dolphins' first-team offense, according to the Miami Herald. [+]
Impact: Miller will be given every chance to be the Dolphins' starting back this season, but even if he does win that job, Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee are going to see their share of carries. ( RotoWire - Tue. May 21, 2013) |
News: Taylor underwent sports hernia surgery Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald. [+]
Impact: The normal recovery time for this type of surgery is four-to-six weeks which means that Taylor should be back in time for training camp. This surgery however will make it more difficult to crack the top four at cornerback. ( RotoWire - Tue. May 21, 2013) |
News: Jones reported to OTAs on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald. [+]
Impact: Jones sat out the Dolphins' first Organized Team Activities, reportedly over contract issues, but he was back with the first-team defense Tuesday. ( RotoWire - Tue. May 21, 2013)

News: With Mike Goodson's future with the Jets up in the air, Ivory, who averaged 5.1 yards per carry in limited snaps during his three seasons with the Saints, appears to be the favorite to emerge as the Jets' top back, the New York Post reports. [+]
Impact: With Goodson's status unclear due to legal issues, for now Ivory is in line to compete for snaps with Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight. In any case, Ivory, who coach Rex Ryan describes as a "physical-style back," will likely have every chance to win the team's starting running back assignment once the hitting starts in earnest. ( RotoWire - Thu. May 23, 2013) |
News: As expected, Goodson has pled not guilty to weapons and drug charges stemming from a traffic stop this past Friday, the Daily News reports. [+]
Impact: Goodson, who will be back in court on June 12, was charged with possession of a loaded handgun, possession of an unlawful handgun, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, Goodson's lawyer, Tony Fusco Jr., maintains that the gun found in the car did not belong to the running back. "We firmly believe that the gun charge is not going to last against Mike," Fusco said. For his part, coach Rex Ryan has declined to comment on the matter, but with Goodson's future with the team cloudy, Chris Ivory would appear to have a leg up over Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight with regards to emerging as the Jets' top running back option. ( RotoWire - Thu. May 23, 2013) |
News: Despite indicating that his knee was at 100 percent following offseason surgery, Hill has been sidelined for the Jets' first two OTA practices, ESPN New York reports. [+]
Impact: Hill underwent the procedure in December, so he could be in the final stages of his recovery and may just be taking a precautionary approach to these sessions. He's still expected to be a full participant in training camp but won't have a particularly glossy outlook to the season given the team's rough state of affairs at quarterback. ( RotoWire - Wed. May 22, 2013)
