Rashard Mendenhall (ARI - RB) News: Mendenhall has "clearly" been the No. 1 running back in practice so far, according to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910. [+]
Impact: Mendenhall has always been the best bet to get first crack at the starting job, but it's still way too early to write off the likes of Ryan Williams, Stepfan Taylor, and Andre Ellington. While there is finally some optimism surrounding the Arizona running game, we wouldn't expect too much from a team that averaged just 3.4 YPC last season and boasts a stable of running backs with limited upside. That isn't to say that Mendenhall or another player can't be productive, but it's hard to envision a top-10 rusher emerging from this group. ( RotoWire - Thu. June 13, 2013) |

Ryan Swope (ARI - WR) News: Swope has not practiced during OTAs due to concussion-related symptoms from college, the ESPN reports. [+]
Impact: Previously, Swope had reportedly missed some time during offseason drills, so the fact that he has not yet participated at all is a bit concerning. He was recently selected in the sixth round of this year's draft, mostly to provide depth at wideout behind Larry Fitzgerald, but it's difficult to project much production in his rookie season, if he's unable to earn many reps during the offseason. Levi Brown (ARI - T) News: Brown took part in football activities Monday for the first time since tearing his triceps in training camp last season, the Cardinals' official site reports. [+]
Impact: At the moment, Brown is expected to protect Carson Palmer's blindside on the line. However, coach Bruce Arians favors open competition at all positions, so that decision is not yet final. ( RotoWire - Wed. June 5, 2013)

Santonio Holmes (NYJ - WR) News: Holmes revealed details of the Lisfranc foot injury that he suffered last season, ESPN New York reports. [+]
Impact: The ailment was Grade 4, or the most severe variety, and included a muscle tear and joint separation in his mid-foot. In a subsequent procedure, Holmes had screws removed, although two will permanently remain in his left foot. While he is targeting a return for the start of training camp, the fact that he has yet to run or cut clearly puts that timetable in danger. ( RotoWire - June 16, 2013) |
|
Mike Goodson (NYJ - RB) News: With Goodson slated to face a grand jury as he sorts out his legal issues, his future with the Jets remains in jeopardy, ESPN New York reports. [+]
Impact: Goodson's case isn't expected to be resolved for a few months, but he could agree to a plea deal before that time to bring closure to the issue. Either way, he figures to be looking at some sort of suspension, but there's a good chance it won't be for more than one or two games. ( RotoWire - June 16, 2013) |
|
Kellen Winslow (NYJ - TE) News: Winslow officially signed with the Jets on Friday. [+]
Impact: Winslow will have a chance to earn playing time as part of a lousy tight end group, but expectations shouldn't be high at this stage of his career. While it sounds like his troublesome knees are doing better lately, there's no guarantee that they will hold up. Winslow appeared in just one game with the Patriots last season and caught one pass for 12 yards. He did catch 75 passes in 2011 with Tampa Bay, so his upside is arguably the highest among Jets tight ends. ( RotoWire - Fri. June 14, 2013)
