News: Sanchez will have surgery on his left knee, but is expected to be ready in time for training camp, the Associated Press reports. [+]
Impact: Sanchez will undergo the operation, which will repair the patella ligament that holds the kneecap in place, sometime in the next few weeks. He's expected to miss some of the Jets' offseason workouts, but should be completely healthy for the start of training camp. At this point, there's no reason to worry about his 2010 status, though we'll keep an eye on his recovery. ( RotoWire - Tue. Feb 2, 2010) |
News: Sanchez has decided to have surgery on his left knee and is expected to be ready for training camp. [+]
Impact: The Jets said Tuesday the operation will happen in the next few weeks. The surgery will repair the ligament that holds the kneecap in place. Sanchez originally injured his left knee in college at Southern California. Sanchez, who led the Jets to the AFC title game in his rookie season, will need two months to recover and will miss some early offseason workouts. General manager Mike Tannenbaum has said the quarterback would be ready well before training camp in July. ( STATS - Tue. Feb 2, 2010) |
News: Clemens, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, might sign with Arizona, the East Valley Tribune reports. [+]
Impact: The Cardinals might be in the market for a veteran to serve as Matt Leinart's backup. Leinart would probably have to struggle or get hurt in order to lose his starting job. Wherever he lands, Clemens will probably be a backup heading into training camp. ( RotoWire - Sat. Jan 30, 2010)

News: According to Aaron Wilson on Twitter, Ravens tight end Quinn Sypniewski underwent a minor followup surgery on his injured left knee. [+]
Impact: Sypniewski has now had three surgeries since originally injuring the knee in 2008 training camp. He was a fine blocker before the injury, but was never an offensive or fantasy option. Now he'll struggle just to get a shot in next season's training camp. ( Fanball - Tue. Feb 9, 2010) |
News: Reed said that the nerve impingement in his neck has gotten worse, the Baltimore Sun reports. [+]
Impact: Reed previously had said that he's 50-50 to retire this offseason. This news might push him further in that direction. ( RotoWire - Sat. Feb 6, 2010) |
News: Birk is among more than a dozen NFL players who have pledged to donate their brain and spinal cord tissue for concussion research. [+]
Impact: In December, the NFL and its players association said they would support the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy at Boston University School of Medicine's research and encouraged players to participate. The NFL said it was willing to give $1 million or more to the center. ( STATS - Mon. Feb 1, 2010)
