News: Brian Westbrook isn't likely to retire this offseason, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. [+]
Impact: In his own words, he is "just trying to enjoy this offseason and trying to get ready for this next upcoming season." With his lingering knee, ankle and head (concussion) problems, don't expect him to be a big fantasy contributor in 2010. ( Fanball - Tue. Feb 9, 2010) |
News: The Philadelphia Eagles have signed punter Durant Brooks to a two-year contract, giving the incumbent Rocca some competition. [+]
Impact: Rocca has been Philadelphia's punter the last three seasons, but he had a net average of 38.3 yards per punt last season. ( STATS - Tue. Feb 2, 2010) |

Durant Brooks (PHI - P) News: The Philadelphia Eagles have signed punter Durant Brooks to a two-year contract, giving incumbent Sav Rocca competition. [+]
Impact: Brooks, a sixth-round pick by Washington in 2008, played six games with the Redskins. He had a gross average of 39.6 yards on 26 punts. Brooks spent time on Green Bay's practice squad in '08 and was released by the Packers last preseason. He had played two seasons at Georgia Tech and won the Ray Guy Award given to the top college punter in 2007. ( STATS - Tue. Feb 2, 2010)

News: Phillips is ahead of schedule in his rehab from knee surgery, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. He won't start running until March 29, but barring a setback should be ready for training camp. [+]
Impact: Phillips' return to form is a key to the Giants' ability to rebuild their defense. ( RotoWire - Tue. Feb 9, 2010) |
News: The Giants have have been awarded Taylor off waivers from Denver. [+]
Impact: Taylor was originally a sixth-round draft choice by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Taylor played in 18 games with one start. Although he has primarily played left tackle in this career, has also filled in at the guard and tackle spots on the right side. Taylor was waived by Kansas City on Sept. 4 and signed by Denver on Dec. 9. He was on the active roster for one game but did not play. ( STATS - Mon. Feb 8, 2010) |
News: Jacobs underwent surgery to repair the torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee, the NY Daily News reports. [+]
Impact: Jacobs said everything feels good in his knee after the surgery, but he wishes he would have had the surgery early in the season instead of trying to play through the pain. "I would've got it done Week 1 and missed four or five weeks and came back and played. As the year went on I thought it was going to get better. But when I figured out it wasn't going to get better, it was too late. So I just kept going." Jacobs managed to rush for just 835 yards, five touchdowns and a 3.7 YPC average during the season. He should be healthy heading into the 2010 season. ( RotoWire - Fri. Feb 5, 2010)
