News: Kahlil Bell made a splash in his NFL debut on Sunday night, ripping off a 72-yard run on his first carry. He finished the night with four carries for 81 yards in Chicago's 24-20 loss to the Eagles. [+]
Impact: While Bell is obviously not a threat to an ineffective Matt Forte yet, he couldn't have had a better NFL debut. He is someone to monitor from afar. ( Fanball - Sun. Nov 22, 2009) |
News: Jay Cutler had another mediocre game on Sunday night, punctuated by yet another critical interception, as the Bears lost 24-20 to the Eagles. He finished the night 24-of-43 for just 171 yards and a touchdown. [+]
Impact: Jay "McNown," as some fans are beginning to call him, struck again at the worst possible moment. The interception was tipped - but off of an Eagles player. Cutler obviously still has all the talent in the world, but 2009 is looking like a lost season. ( Fanball - Sun. Nov 22, 2009) |
News: Tight end Desmond Clark (neck) leads the list of inactive Chicago Bears on Sunday night, according to Pro Football Talk. Joining him on the sidelines against the Eagles will be safety Kevin Payne, receiver Juaquin Iglesias, cornerback D.J. Moore, guard Lance Louis, defensive tackles Matt Toeaina and Jarron Gilbert and linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa [+]
Impact: Not too many impact players. If Chicago loses again, it will be because of the players they have on the field, and not the pine. ( Fanball - Sun. Nov 22, 2009)

Cutler rallies Bears again, beats Seahawks Converted defensive back Devin Hester is still learning Chicago's offense. Yet he pulled aside Jay Cutler on Sunday and delivered a veteran receiver's plea: I'm open. Give me the ball.
Cutler listened quietly. Then, with less than 2 minutes left and Chicago down by two, he obliged.
Cutler's miserable Bears debut two weeks ago became further forgotten when he completed all three of his passes on the decisive drive. The third was for 36 yards to Hester with 1:52 remaining, on the slant the receiver had requested, rallying the Bears to a 25-19 victory over the depleted Seattle Seahawks. Full Story

News: Hawthorne dominated again Sunday with 15 tackles. [+]
Impact: Hawthorne has 43 tackles in the last four games with two sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble. ( RotoWire - Nov 22, 2009) |
News: Carlson was targeted four times Sunday but failed to catch a pass in a blowout loss at Minnesota. [+]
Impact: The Seahawks stunk up the joint (they ran only 19 first-half plays and failed to cross midfield), so that limited Carlson's opportunities. But they're also wasting one of their better offensive weapons. To give him five targets in two weeks is inexplicable. ( RotoWire - Nov 22, 2009) |
News: Houshmandzadeh finished with four receptions for 36 yards Sunday in a disappointing performance after last week's season highs. [+]
Impact: Houshmandzadeh was targeted 17 times last week but saw only six Sunday. His targets figured to drop after last week's anomaly, but the Seahawks compounded it with an awful performance. They ran only 19 first-half plays and failed to cross midfield. ( RotoWire - Nov 22, 2009)
