News: Shaun Phillips fully practiced Thursday after sitting out yesterday, according to the Chargers' official website. He is dealing with an ankle injury. [+]
Impact: Phillips currently leads the Chargers with six sacks, and will have a good chance to add to his total Sunday against Cleveland, assuming he won't be hindered by his ankle. ( Fanball - Fri. Dec 4, 2009) |
News: Shawne Merriman (foot) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, according to the Chargers' official website. [+]
Impact: As of now, the dangerous rush linebacker does not look to have good odds of playing Sunday against the Browns. Rookie Larry English would be the top candidate to replace Merriman if needed. ( Fanball - Fri. Dec 4, 2009) |
News: The Chargers are believed to be concerned with Shawne Merriman's nagging foot ailment, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. [+]
Impact: The stud pass rusher could miss Sunday's game at Cleveland, and could potentially be on the shelf beyond that as well. The organization also reportedly thinks that Merriman may not get better unless he rests. ( Fanball - Wed. Dec 2, 2009)

Rivers' late TD pass takes Chargers over Giants Five years after being traded away in a draft-day swap for Eli Manning, Philip Rivers came back and stuck it to the New York Giants.
Rivers capped an 80-yard drive with an 18-yard pass to Vincent Jackson with 21 seconds to play and the San Diego Chargers stunned the Giants 21-20 on Sunday, posting their third straight win while handing New York its fourth straight loss.
San Diego (5-3) is now well positioned for the second half of the season. Full Story

News: It appears the New York Giants will bench starting defensive end Osi Umenyiora for Mathias Kiwanuka against the Cowboys this weekend, according to the New York Daily News. Chris Canty will also likely start in place of Fred Robbins at defensive tackle. [+]
Impact: If the Giants weren't trying to act desperate before, they've apparently given up on that now. Umenyiora, just two years removed from a 13 sack season, has struggled in 2009 after missing all of 2008 with injury. Canty, meanwhile, has long been slated to supplant Robbins, but has struggled through his own injuries. This could either be the spark that finally wakes the G-Men's defense up, or the proverbial nail in their season's coffin. ( Fanball - Fri. Dec 4, 2009) |
News: After participating only in sprints on Thursday, Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle) was again fully participating in Giants practice on Friday, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. [+]
Impact: Great news for a Giants team facing a must-win this weekend against their arch-rival, the Cowboys. While he may end up being a game-time decision, he seems likely to go. ( Fanball - Fri. Dec 4, 2009) |
News: Manning (foot) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Giants.com's Pat Hanlon reports. [+]
Impact: Nothing out of the ordinary here for Manning; he's been listed as probable for the last several weeks. He might be an aggravation away from being shelved for the season, but for now he's ready to go. ( RotoWire - Fri. Dec 4, 2009)
