News: McDaniel is out of jail after being arrested and accused of domestic violence. [+]
Impact: McDaniel was released Sunday on $3,500 bond. Authorities say the 25-year-old South Carolina native returned from a night out with friends and then got into a fight with his girlfriend early Saturday at his home in Davie, which is near Miami. McDaniel is in his fourth season. He played for Jacksonville for three seasons and came to Miami in 2009. He had 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season. ( STATS - Sun. Feb 7, 2010) |
News: Pennington (shoulder) is still pondering what his future might behold, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. [+]
Impact: Pennington had surgery on this throwing shoulder on Oct. 1. He has been throwing for five weeks now and feels the strength is slowly but surely coming back. As for next season, he would still like to be a starter, but will not turn his nose up at a backup role if he feels the situation is right for both him and his family. ( RotoWire - Sat. Feb 6, 2010) |
News: Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald is guaranteeing that Porter will get cut this offseason, according to the Miami Herald. [+]
Impact: Porter has been airing his grievances publicly to anyone who will listen about how unhappy he was last season. The Dolphins will certainly cut him before any offseason bonuses are due. ( RotoWire - Fri. Feb 5, 2010)

News: Claiming that the Panthers have "ignored" him this offseason, Julius Peppers says he will not sign a long-term contract with the organization, according to ESPN. [+]
Impact: Meaning, the only way he'll be back in Carolina in 2010 is via the franchise tag. Seeing as that would call for a salary north of $20 million, consider it unlikely at best. ( Fanball - Tue. Feb 9, 2010) |
News: Peppers no longer wants a long-term contract with Carolina, saying the Panthers have ignored him this offseason. In an interview aired Tuesday morning on Charlotte radio station WFNZ-AM, the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end indicated he's irritated by the team's ``silence'' and has changed his stance on whether he wants to continue his career in Carolina. [+]
Impact: While agent Carl Carey said last week he believes the Panthers aren't interested in retaining Peppers, Carolina's career sacks leader, team officials haven't announced their plans for the impending free agent. General manager Marty Hurney didn't immediately return a phone message Tuesday. ``How can you say you want to be somewhere when you're not really sure if they want you there because they're not even talking to you?'' Peppers said. ( STATS - Tue. Feb 9, 2010) |
News: McCown, who ended the year on injured reserve after suffering a broken ankle, is unlikely to return to the Panthers in 2010, the Gaston Gazette reports. [+]
Impact: With Jake Delhomme carrying a large contract and Matt Moore playing very well at the end of the season, McCown will likely sign elsewhere with an opportunity to compete for a No. 2 quarterback spot. The Panthers will likely draft another quarterback to hold the clipboard as their No. 3 option. ( RotoWire - Wed. Feb 3, 2010)
