Gardner, who has the fourth-highest PER at 32.98, leads the Golden Eagles in rebounding and free throw percentage while also shooting 57 percent from the field, and he does it in just 21 minutes a game.

Olynyk, who has the second-highest PER at 36.45, was a beast in January as the Zags rose to No. 7 in the nation. The 7-footer, who leads Gonzaga in scoring and free-throw percentage, became the first Zag with back-to-back 30-point games since Adam Morrison earlier this month. And he had perhaps his best game in a win against BYU, scoring 26 on 9-for-9 shooting and 8-for-8 from the line. That's as efficient as it gets.
 

Green, who has the fifth-highest PER at 32.46, leads Division I in scoring and also leads the Hokies in assists and steals while shooting 49 percent from the field, 36 percent on 3's and 81 percent at the line.       

McDermott, who has the third-highest PER at 33.46, is second in Division I in scoring while shooting 56 percent from the field, 51 percent on 3's and 86 percent at the line.

Muscala, who has the highest player-efficiency rating at 37.41, leads the Bison in points, rebounds and assists while shooting 52 percent from the field and 77 percent at the line. He has 15 double-doubles, including four straight games of 20 or more points in January.

Ever since he developed his post-up game last season, LeBron has become devastatingly efficient on offense. For the second straight month, he made 55.5 percent of his shots in January. His overall player efficiency leads the league, as usual.

With three straight scoring titles, Durant has always been a prolific point-making machine, but he’s never been this efficient. He shot 52.4 percent from the field, 40.7 percent on 3-pointers (attempting more than six per game) and 92.5 percent from the line in January.

Point guards rarely make half their shots in a game, much less for a month or for an entire season. But Parker has added a deadly midrange jumper to his uncanny finishing ability around the hoop. The result is an extraordinarily efficient scorer who made 56.3 percent of his shots in January, lifting his season average to 53.2 – tops among NBA guards and 18th overall.

The 7-foot center didn’t shoot a lot in January, averaging just 5.3 attempts per game, but he made the most of his opportunities. Jordan shot 62.4 percent from the field, primarily on dunks off lobs from Chris Paul and company.

The sharpshooting point guard isn’t shy when it comes to launching 3-pointers. He averaged 7.1 attempts from behind the arc in January and made nearly half of them (47.1%). It was a crime that he wasn’t named to the All-Star team.
