NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31721317 Last chance Last+chance NFL

After the first three rounds, who were the best players still on the board going into Saturday's final four rounds? Pete Fiutak of College Football News breaks down the best of the rest, and we update when they were drafted — if they were drafted, that is.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31718867 QB Matt Barkley, USC, 6-2, 227 QB+Matt+Barkley%2C+USC%2C+6-2%2C+227+ NFL

Personality-wise, he’s exactly what you want in a franchise quarterback to build around. There’s no questioning his leadership, smarts, attitude or the respect factor — his teammates will follow him blindly. He has the The Guy mentality without all the baggage. A pure pro-style QB, he has been groomed for the NFL since high school with flawless mechanics and the ability to quickly read defenses and check into the right play. Everything is in place to become an elite of the elite pro, except for some of the raw physical tools.

The arm is fine but nothing special, and while he throws a good deep ball, he’s not going to be able to rely on a fastball at the next level. While he’s not small, he doesn’t have the tall, Tom Brady/Joe Flacco look or frame, and he doesn’t get the ball out of his hands in a hurry. He’s good enough to be an NFL starter, and his personality will make him fans in the locker room and in the stands, but he doesn’t do any one thing at the highest level. He’s more functional than fantastic, but that could be OK if he doesn’t have to carry a team.

CFN Projection: First round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (98th overall) by Eagles

Jayne Kamin-Oncea - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G11_20130427010035222_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G11_20130427010035222_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31715034 DT Jesse Williams, Alabama, 6-3, 323 DT+Jesse+Williams%2C+Alabama%2C+6-3%2C+323+ NFL

A tough guy’s tough guy, he’s insanely strong and doesn’t get shoved off of his base, ever. The working definition of an anchor, he won’t put up stats and he’ll never hit the quarterback, but he’ll sit in the middle of a line, occupy two blockers and won’t get shoved back. Staying healthy could be a problem considering the beating he takes, but as long as he’s healthy, you know exactly what you’re going to get.

CFN Projection: Third round

DRAFTED: Fifth round (137th overall) by Seahawks

Kelly Lambert - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G10_20130427010034219_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G10_20130427010034219_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716756 TE Levine Toilolo, Stanford, 6-8, 260 TE+Levine+Toilolo%2C+Stanford%2C+6-8%2C+260+ NFL

Massive. He might not be fast, but he’s a gigantic player with tremendous strength and length to outmuscle anyone. He’s like a power forward who’ll box out and go after any ball in his range, and while he’s not an elite athlete, he doesn’t labor. He’s not going to stretch the field and he’s not going to blaze past anyone, but he’s a worthwhile project who could destroy smaller defenders on short-range passes.

CFN Projection: Third round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (133rd overall) by Falcons

Brian Spurlock - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G9_20130427010034218_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G9_20130427010034218_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716755 OLB Cornelius Washington, Georgia, 6-4, 265 OLB+Cornelius+Washington%2C+Georgia%2C+6-4%2C+265 NFL

Overshadowed by Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree, Washington might have the most talent of the three. Very big, VERY fast and extremely athletic, he can be a devastating tweener working on the end or as a pass-rushing terror at outside linebacker. However, the tape and the tools don’t match up. He always was expected to become a superstar at Georgia, but it never happened.

CFN Projection: Second round

DRAFTED: Sixth round (188th overall) by Bears

Derick E. Hingle - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G8_20130427010035221_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G8_20130427010035221_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716754 DE Alex Okafor, Texas, 6-5, 264 DE+Alex+Okafor%2C+Texas%2C+6-5%2C+264++ NFL

For all those looking for the rock-solid, totally safe, no-bust defensive producer, Okafor is it. Well built, he has decent size and strength against the run with the quickness to be a decent pass rusher from a variety of ways and angles. There’s not going to be anything special about what he’ll do as either an outside linebacker or an end, and he’ll never put up big sack totals, but get him on a line and he’ll start and be sound from Day One.

CFN Projection: Third round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (103rd overall) by Cardinals

Derick E. Hingle - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G7_20130427010035220_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G7_20130427010035220_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716748 WR Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech, 6-0, 204 WR+Quinton+Patton%2C+Louisiana+Tech%2C+6-0%2C+204 NFL

The numbers might have been inflated in Louisiana Tech's pass-happy offense, but he had a lot to do with that. The 4.5 speed isn’t great and he’s not huge and bulky, but he’ll be a reliable possession target who’ll make the midrange play time and again. The hands aren’t fantastic and he’s not explosive, but he’ll be a sure-thing, bread-and-butter short-range receiver who’ll put up big reception numbers. He’ll be a quarterback’s best friend.

CFN Projection: Second round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (128th overall) by 49ers

Derick E. Hingle - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G6_20130427005903210_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G6_20130427005903210_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716750 WR Da’Rick Rogers, Tennessee Tech, 6-3, 217 WR+Da%26rsquo%3BRick+Rogers%2C+Tennessee+Tech%2C+6-3%2C+217 NFL

With excellent size, 4.5 speed and great strength, Rogers — who started his college career at Tennessee — has ability that is undeniable. When he wants a ball, he’ll beat up his man to go grab it and make the play. Now he has to harness the talent to become a top football player. He doesn’t have Randy Moss-like otherworldly skills to overlook his off-the-field knucklehead streak, and he’s not a true blazer, but there are enough talent and upside to get a top-50 talent in the middle rounds.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716753 OLB Khaseem Greene, Rutgers, 6-1, 241 OLB+Khaseem+Greene%2C+Rutgers%2C+6-1%2C+241+ NFL

The best player in the Big East over the past few seasons, he overcame a frightening broken ankle to come back roaring, showing no ill effects and continuing to be a disruptive force. He’s not a big-time hitter and whiffs way too much, he’s not a special athlete in any way, and the stats are a bit overblown because of the defense and style of play, but he’s a baller who’ll be terrific over the next two years once he finds the right fit and right role.

CFN Projection: Second round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (117th overall) by Bears

Douglas Jones - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G4_20130427005903209_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G4_20130427005903209_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716749 CB B.W. Webb, William & Mary, 5-10, 184 CB+B.W.+Webb%2C+William+%26amp%3B+Mary%2C+5-10%2C+184+ NFL

A nearly perfect athletic prospect, he has 4.4 speed with cut-on-a-dime quickness and cutting ability and jump-out-of-the-stadium leaping skills. He’s not going to be The Guy for a pro secondary after being able to do whatever he wanted, and he’s not going to bring too much help in run support. However, his talents, versatility and kick return skills will make him a near-perfect nickel defender.

CFN Projection: Third round

DRAFTED: Fourth round (114th overall) by Cowboys

Brian Spurlock - The Fight Network http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G3_20130427005902207_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2013/04/27/042613-NFL-DRAFT-REMAINING-AM-G3_20130427005902207_107_80.JPG
NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716751 OT Oday Aboushi, Virginia, 6-5, 308 OT+Oday+Aboushi%2C+Virginia%2C+6-5%2C+308+ NFL

A big blocker with good size, he’s a blaster of a run blocker who can be used almost anywhere on the line. A great technician, he doesn’t make a slew of big mistakes and grew into the job on the left side over the course of his career, but he doesn’t have the quickness or athleticism to hold up against NFL speed rushers on a blindside. Even so, he’s a fighter who’ll hold down a job for 10 years.

Very good as is, there’s still a world of upside with excellent talent, good size and a nice résumé. Productive, he was able to get into the backfield and also showed he could hold up well on a regular basis against the run. A blaster with good quickness, he has just enough athleticism to move where needed and not need everything funneled his way. He’ll make a ton of tackles and should put up big stats.

A much stronger prospect before he had a foot injury at the beginning of last season, he’s still trying to come back and has been knocked down a few pegs because he hasn’t been able to show what he can do in workouts. A superstar pass rushing prospect before the injury, he holds up well against the run and cuts and moves like a much smaller playmaker. Before getting hurt he was considered a first-rounder as another possible Von Miller.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31718870 C Khaled Holmes, USC, 6-3, 302 C+Khaled+Holmes%2C+USC%2C+6-3%2C+302 NFL

Very smart, very quick and with a great frame, he has the basics to go along with terrific talent. He might not be a Pro Bowl talent right away, but he’s certainly a starter right out of the box at center with the potential to slide over to guard if needed. Once he improves his bulk a bit and gets more powerful, the ceiling could be limitless.

An underappreciated part of the great secondary, he might have been overshadowed by other Tigers defensive backs, but with his decent speed, fluid athleticism and size, he has the prototypical frame and tools. There’s lots of work to do on his style and instincts — he needs to take better angles and not rely on his quickness to recover — but there’s a lot to be excited about as a relatively cheap No. 1 corner prospect. However, Simon didn't help himself by getting arrested Thursday, allegedly for confronting a cop.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716761 C Barrett Jones, Alabama, 6-4, 306 C+Barrett+Jones%2C+Alabama%2C+6-4%2C+306+ NFL

Not only versatile — winning the Outland at tackle, working at center and potentially moving to guard in the pros — he’s a consummate leader and the main man and the leader behind some of the best lines in recent college football history. Yeah, he was great, but an argument could be made that he was the fifth-best pro prospect on the 2012 Tide line. He’ll start for a long, long time, but he’s too limited to play up to his legendary college status.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31718869 ILB Nico Johnson, Alabama, 6-2, 248 ILB+Nico+Johnson%2C+Alabama%2C+6-2%2C+248 NFL

A high-character player who doesn’t make mistakes and doesn’t miss stops, he was a leader on a team and defense full of leaders. Very smart and very fast, he’s always in the right position and he’s always working to make plays, fighting through the trash and always getting his nose dirty. While he might not be a regular in the Pro Bowl, and he might not do anything special, he’ll be a very good, very sound pro who’ll hold his own as long as he doesn’t have to be the star.

Extremely slippery, he’s able to weave and work his way through the line with the ability to find a sliver of daylight, make a cut and go. While he’s not a blazer, he’s quick enough to get by and he plays smaller than his size — a positive — when he needs to find a way to get a key yard. He’ll need blocking and isn’t going to bust out big dashes, but he can be an ultra-reliable feature back who handles the ball 20 times a game.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716759 QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas, 6-2, 215 QB+Tyler+Wilson%2C+Arkansas%2C+6-2%2C+215 NFL

A football player’s football player, he’s a leader and field rat who is really, really into jacking up his team and being a screamy type who doesn’t need help lighting the fire. With a nice arm and good, sound skills, he does all the little things right in his reads with the right mentality to march an offense and get the chains moving no matter what. It would be nice if he were 6-5 and 240; he doesn’t have the prototypical size. There’s upside, with time in the weight room and a little tweaking with an NFL quarterback coach all that might be needed.

NFL 5 43 Day 3: Best available players 31716758 P Brad Wing, LSU, 6-3, 205 P+Brad+Wing%2C+LSU%2C+6-3%2C+205+ NFL

A game-changer, the left-footer is a big, strong punter who can bail a team out of any jam by cranking out a huge kick. Mechanically sound, he’s ready from Day One to step on an NFL field and kick, needing little work or tweaking. He can do it all, able to hang it up in the air for a mile, or can put it inside the 20 when he’s focused. And that’s a little bit of the problem. He was suspended for the Chick-fil-A Bowl after failing a drug test, and he’s a character who might step out a bit considering he’s a punter, but he has a pro leg and will be in the league longer than any of the LSU pro prospects in this draft.

All of a sudden, his stock was upped with a fantastic Combine. There isn’t anything flashy about his style of play or what he does on the field, but he showed the potential to become far more after ripping through the short drills at Indy. He doesn’t miss a tackle and he’s as tough as nails against the run, and he’ll be as sound and solid as any inside linebacker in the draft. While he might not be anything special, there’s no floor. He’ll be a cheap starter available in the later rounds.
