| News: Allen (shoulder) and the Viking have not had talks about a new contract, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Allen is entering the final year of a six-year contract. | Impact: Allen is set to make $14 million this season and says he doesn't want to restructure his deal. Given his age (31), the Vikings may not want to lock him up to a long-term deal at this point. However, it's possible the two sides could talk about a contract extension this summer. Still, it doesn't sound like it's going to be an issue as far as Allen showing up to training camp or being bothered by the issue during the season as he'll likely get a significant deal if he keeps pace after six consecutive seasons of 11 sacks or more. Allen had offseason surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, but is expected to be healthy for training camp.(RotoWire, ) |
