News: A person familiar with the situation says that Johnson is visiting the New York Jets, who are looking to add a playmaker to their backfield. Impact: Johnson was released by the Titans last Monday. The former 2,000-yard rusher is meeting with the team at its facility Tuesday, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Jets don't make player visits public. The Jets would like Johnson to team with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell to form a potentially potent trio. Johnson, who turns 29 in September, is only the sixth player to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons.(STATS, 2:43pm)

News: Johnson (knee) is slated to visit the Jets on Tuesday, the Daily News reports. Impact: The report suggests that the Jets are one of three teams interested in signing Johnson, who was recently released by the Titans. If he ends up joining the Jets' backfield, he'd be a nice complement to Chris Ivory, but in such a scenario it's hard to imagine Johnson seeing as many carries (279) as he did last season en route to recording 1,077 rushing yards.(RotoWire, )

News: The Tennessee Titans have told Johnson they are releasing him after six seasons to avoid paying $8 million the running back is due in 2014, and the final three seasons left on the $53.5 million contract he signed in September 2011. Impact: The Titans announced Johnson has been told he will be released Friday. The decision comes before they start their offseason program Monday with new coach Ken Whisenhunt. Johnson has the most touchdown runs of 80 yards or longer in NFL history with six - twice the total of anyone else in a group including Adrian Peterson, Barry Sanders and O.J. Simpson. He also has 12 career TD runs of at least 45 yards, trailing only Sanders (18) and Jim Brown (13) in that category.(STATS, 12:41pm)

News: Johnson (knee) was released by the Titans on Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. Impact: Johnson's release was expected to be granted at some point this week, and it was finally made official on Friday. Johnson will still count for $4 million against the Titans' cap room in 2014, although the team will save roughly $6 million against the cap by cutting ties. He'll now test the free-agent market, with early rumblings suggesting that the Jets may be a good fit.(RotoWire, )
