| News: The Chargers are considering playing Gilchrist at safety this season because they think it might be a better fit for him and also because they are fairly thin and inexperienced at that position, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. | Impact: Outside of Eric Weddle, the Chargers don't have many proven commodities at safety with 2012 rookie Brandon Taylor and his 40 career snaps at the position actually leading the unit in experience behind Weddle. The team plans to give Gilchrist a good look at the position in camp, and he seems to be on board with the plan saying he will play "wherever the coaches feel [he] can help the team best."
