Marshall's hot start: Wide receiver Brandon Marshall caught touchdown passes of 40 and 75 yards in the first quarter for his second two- touchdown game of the season. Marshall finished with five catches for 134 yards.

Another for Dumervil: Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil recorded another sack Sunday, bringing his season total to 11 1/2, just one shy of his career high.

Moreno back on track: Rookie tailback Know- shon Moreno wound up 3 yards short of his first 100-yard game, with 97 yards rushing on 18 carries. Lindsay H. Jones, The Denver Post

Worsts Adding injury to insult

Orton out: After playing one of his best halves of the season, quarterback Kyle Orton injured his left ankle on the final offensive play in the second quarter and did not return. The Broncos' offense struggled mightily without him.

Defense run ragged: The Broncos allowed their second straight 100-yard rusher and gave up 174 yards rushing to the Redskins, who were playing without Clinton Portis. The Broncos yielded 116 yards rushing in the second half.

San Diego catches up: The last time the Broncos won, on Oct. 19, they had a 3 1/2-game lead in the AFC West over San Diego. With three consecutive losses, the Broncos have fallen into a tie with the Chargers, who visit Denver next week. Lindsay H. Jones, The Denver Post
