My buddy Chuck, the dancing king
Editor's note: Here is Glazer's firsthand account as he accompanied friend and MMA legend Chuck Liddell to his first performance on Dancing With the Stars ...
I don't wanna bag on the show, because everyone there was great in putting up with Chuck and myself. And the ladies there were gorgeous ... wow, just beautiful. I tell you who did a great job, the guy who was working the crowd was great ... very entertaining.

But I will say that when your boy's not dancing, it was hard to watch the rest of it. It's not them, but me I don't just have ADD, but LMNOP. It's not on them necessarily, but a me thing.
So do I have any interest in watching Tom DeLay dance, or some random snowboarder? Not really. I DEFINITELY had no interest in watching Donny Osmond dance, I can tell you that (no offense, Donny). And seeing Tom DeLay shake his butt is definitely something I hope I can block out of my memory bank rather quickly. It wasn't something I was hoping to see in my lifetime.
The funniest part of opening night? Liddell was WAY more nervous than before any other fight he's ever had. He was absolutely petrified beforehand. He told me afterward that it was the most difficult thing he's ever done in his life.
Seriously, I've never even seen Chuck nervous before. For his MMA fights, either he's excited to go punch someone or he flat-out doesn't care. But he was back there in his trailer and backstage, slapping his arms and legs and stuff. People were looking at him like, "What's wrong with this dude?"
Even Donny Osmond hit him (YES, DONNY OSMOND HIT CHUCK LIDDELL!!!) four different times during the night. I kept saying, "Chuck, hit him back, dude!"
He just said "Naw" but was complaining that Donny kept going after him ... almost like, "MOMMMM, DONNY'S HITTING MEEEEEE!!!", saying he can't hit poor Donny back. But really, how many chances do you get to hit Donny Osmond?
So the show starts, and I know how Chuck is ... Aaron Carter went first, and he does his thing, and he can move. So I'm thinking to myself, "Oh man, are we screwed or what? If there are more like this, man, we've got problems because I KNOW our boy cannot move like this."
My man did alright though, on the floor that is. Chuck really struggled during the postdance interview. He was trying to rehearse what he was gonna say, but then it came time for the interview and all he could do was smile and look awkward. Afterward when I asked him about it, he told me, "Jay, I was so pissed that I didn't do as well in rehearsal." He said it was so much more difficult than after being in a fight. It had all the rhythm of a bar mitzvah (I can say that because I'm a member of the Tribe). He did tell an interviewer that it's much easier to get punched in the face and kicked in the head than dance on national TV."
Michael Irvin had a tough night, he was no Emmitt Smith. I thought he should've been able to do a lot better. But he came up to me afterward and told me, "Jay, you have no idea how hard this is. I had no idea how hard this was in front of everyone." His motivation all week was doing better Jerry Rice when he was on the show, so much so that "The Playmaker" hung a picture of Rice in his dance studio.
Of all my friends, the best dancer by far is Randy Couture. I am not kidding either. The dude can DANCE he's Solid Gold meets circus freak. He can go like crazy, and when he does you can't help but just stare at him. For a 46-year-old white man, Randy can freestyle his butt off. The only thing is that he makes this stupid face, with his gums tucked in and a goofy smile. You know me, I like to make fun of my friends as much as possible, but I can't with Randy's dancing but I can always make fun of "The Face."
As far as the FOX pregame show guys, Strahan would probably win a dance-off by default. Howie can't move because everything in his body is made of metal. Terry I'm not even gonna go there, man. But hey, judging from that old video of Jimmy dancing on his boat, you give Jimmy a couple of Heinekens and maybe he can give Stray a run.
One thing about Michael most of you know we've been friends for a long time is that he is the WORST team player and wingman at times. He'll always throw up a block, knowing I'm not a big dance floor guy he'll tell a young lady, "You should ask Jay to dance, he loves it." Usually, he forces me to come up with some kind of fake injury on the fly, like "Oh, I hurt myself training" or "I have to be careful with my back" or something. He's done that to me on a number of occasions. I call it "Glaze-hating."

QUESTION Debbie Couch from Page, Ariz. on Bill Belichick: "Did you see how Belichick dismissed Mark Sanchez's attempt to be a good sport after the Pats-Jets game? He would not even shake Mark's hand! Now that's a class act! :("
jay_glazer: He also kind of blew off Rex Ryan, too. I can tell ya, I can see why he'd do that. Look, there's a longtime rivalry between the Patriots and Jets ... we know that. The problem is that the Jets talked so much trash and then went out and backed it up. So as the Patriots, are you gonna get up with a big ol' happy face and shake his hand afterward?
But we have to remember, this is not the real world. This is just sports. So ultimately, Bill shoulda shaken the rookie's hand. If you wanna get back at him badly enough, get back at him the next game.
QUESTION Keith from Kalamazoo, Mich., on the Lions: "Do you see the Lions winning a game this season, and if so, how many? I am a hard-core Lions fan as well as U of M, but I don't see the Lions winning many games. But I do see them winning a few. I think they just might beat the Redskins."
jay_glazer: I think they'll be improved from a year ago. Sure, the Lions and Matthew Stafford, they'll take some lumps. They're playing tough right now, but they just don't have the talent yet. They're a couple years away. They have an awfully big mess to clean up there. That's no secret. But no, I don't see Detroit going 0-16 again. I promise you that they won't. ... I will guarantee it.
QUESTION Stan Puckett (stanleywp77@yahoo.com) Charleston, S.C., on Jay's recent bike crash: "Jay, sorry to hear about your bike (may she rest in peace). I know you're tough and all, but next time you might try wearing a jacket. When I went down on my bike, I slid on my arm but walked away with basically a rug burn where the inside of my jacket (an Icon T-max) rubbed my arm. It is possible to look cool and be safe. I'm sure you could have the baddest looking jacket on the planet if you wanted it. I hope your arm heals well. Ride safe and be sure to post pics of your new girl (bike) when you get her."

jay_glazer: Thank you very much. She should be coming out of the Harley hospital in two weeks. The one thing I've learned after messing up my arm is how much people like to touch you when they talk to you. I never learned it until I got that "yeast infection" looking thing on my arm after my wreck. People don't even know they're doing it either ... "Hey hey," then they tap you ... Actually the worst culprit has been Chuck. He even dressed my wound that night, then he's tapping me a bunch of times. I had to tell him over and over, "DUDE, stop touching my arm already!"
