Injury update
by By Allen Wilson , Buffalo News
There were no major changes on the Bills' injury report. Donte Whitner (thumb), Bryan Scott (ankle) and Paul Posluszny (forearm) did not practice on Thursday. Also out was Chris Ellis, whose mother passed away last week. Whitner, Scott and Posluszny won't play on Sunday. It is not known if Ellis will return for the game.
Practicing on a limited basis were defensive tackle John McCargo (calf), left tackle Demetrius Bell (groin) and Jairus Byrd (hip). All three did get a lot of work in, so their chances of playing on Sunday looks pretty good. An official status on the injured players will be announced after Friday's practice.
Should Byrd be unable to finish the game, head coach Dick Jauron indicated strong safety George Wilson could move to free safety, where he has played more, and rookie linebacker Nic Harris would step in at strong safety.
Harris played safety at Oklahoma. The Bills obviously consider him to be a better option at strong safety than John Wendling, whose only contribution to the Bills has been on special teams.
