Austin earns more playing time

"I told him, 'You know you lost all your girls when you dropped that touchdown pass,'" Choice said. "He looked at me and said, 'You know what? I'm going to get them back, Choice.'
"After the game, when we came back in the locker room, I said, 'You got 'em all, brother.' He stood up and laughed."
Attention from the ladies isn't the only thing Austin's franchise-record 250-yard performance against the Chiefs guaranteed him. On Monday, coach Wade Phillips promised that Austin would play more than 50 snaps when the Cowboys (3-2) return from their bye week to host Atlanta on Oct. 25.
Logging 58 snaps in Kansas City, Austin caught a career-high 10 passes, including scoring plays of 59 and 60 yards. His second TD allowed Dallas to escape Arrowhead Stadium with a 26-20 overtime victory.
"We're going to get him on the field," Phillips said. "His run after the catch is so strong that if you get him the Football, he's liable to make a big play.
"He showed he can do that, so we've got to get him in the game. He's got to get his touches. That's the bottom line: Give him a chance to do it again."
While he made it clear Austin's playing time will increase, Phillips wouldn't declare Austin a starter or say whether his expanded role would come at the expense of
Austin can play all three receiver positions, but Phillips said it doesn't matter where he lines up as long as he's out there.
"You just have to let him play," Phillips said. "You're not going to make 250 yards every time, but he's going to have a chance to make big plays again."
Williams said he wasn't surprised Austin had a big day.
"I told (center) Andre (Gurode) before (they) left, 'Their secondary is going to struggle a little bit. As long as you guys can block them up front, there's no way a receiver shouldn't have over 150 yards,'" Williams said. "He kind of looked at me and laughed, but it was evident on film that they kind of struggle back there, and Miles had the game of his life."
Williams was asked whether he thought Austin had earned more playing time.
"You have to be consistent," Williams said. "That was the game of his life. He's going to cherish that forever. Everybody is going to remember it. That record is going to be hard to break. I'm shooting for it, but it's going to be hard to break. But you just have to be a consistent player in this league."
