A league source confirmed to The News' Mark Gaughan that former Titans quarterback Patrick Ramsey worked out for the Bills on Tuesday. The news was first reported in a Twitter post from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Ramsey, 30, was released by Tennessee on Oct. 3. He had signed with the Titans in April to be the third-string QB behind Kerry Collins and Vince Young, but was released to make more room for cornerback depth.

It remains to be seen how quickly Trent Edwards can recover from his second concussion in just over a year. Edwards is scheduled to begin Football workouts Wednesday, but has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against Houston. The Bills have a bye the following week.

Ramsey has played for four NFL teams since entering the league as a first-round draft pick (32nd overall) of the Washington Redskins in 2002. He served as the backup to Jay Cutler in Denver the past two seasons, appearing in mop-up duty in just one game in 2008. He was a backup for the New York Jets for 11 games in 2006 and started 24 games for the Redskins from 2002-05.

Ramsey graduated from Tulane with several of the school's passing records. He was replaced in the Green Wave lineup by former Bills first-round pick J.P. Losman.
