Timmons says ankle is OK for Denver
by Scott Brown , Pittsburgh Tribune Review
Timmons missed the season opener because of a sprained left ankle. He got hurt early in the fourth quarter of the Steelers' 27-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday when nose tackle Casey Hampton "rolled up" on his ankle. He did not return to the game.
"It's a Grade One sprain, not a big deal," Timmons wrote on his blog. "I should come back faster than I did from that high ankle sprain."
Timmons, in his first season as a starter, is second on the Steelers with three sacks and fifth in tackles (28). The 6-foot-1, 234-pounder has also been credited with four passes defended.
Timmons has nearly two weeks to heal because of the only extended break the Steelers get during the regular season. The players should be well rested when they return to work Monday.
Coach Mike Tomlin gave most of the players, who were at the Steelers' practice facility yesterday, the rest of the week off.
The exception is rookies and practice-squad players.
They will put in some work today and Thursday before Tomlin lets them go for a three-day weekend.
