Catching a rush in loss a small step for defense

Tomlinson scored twice and Sproles ripped off a 15-yard run, but there wasn't much there for most of the game.
"We played the run fairly well," Cable said. "We had a couple of breakdowns in there where they hit a couple runs but, for the most part, pretty solid."
Raiders rookie defensive lineman Matt Shaughnessy came of age, recording five tackles, including three of Tomlinson on one drive, and a sack.
Then again, he didn't have much of a choice, with starter Greg Ellis limited because of a chronic left knee problem.
"Matt played a ton, probably 80 percent of that Football game," Cable said. "He played very, very well. "... I'm very pleased with his effort."
The Chargers completed all three of their pass attempts on cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. One went for 3 yards, one for 5 and the other for 20 and a key first down early in the fourth quarter.
Asomugha faced only four passes the first seven games.
Rookie wide receivers Louis Murphy and Darrius Heyward-Bey combined for only one reception for 10 yards.
Sebastian Janikowski has been one of the few bright spots for the Raiders, going 12-for-12 on field goals. On Sunday, he converted a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter, a 41-yarder in the third and a 28-yarder in the fourth.
