Questions with Bob Sansevere: Vikings defensive end Jared Allen
by Pioneer Press , St. Paul Pioneer Press
JA: I thought the game turned out well. I mean, 27-10 is a good game.
BS: How often do you have a game with one tackle and no sacks?
JA: It happens. You have games like this. Hats off to (left tackle Jeff) Backus. He had a good game.
BS: How upset were you when the officials didn't give you the fumble recovery?
JA: I thought I had it, so, whatever. I'm not going to sit and cry about it.
BS: Did you look at the replay (on the stadium's video board) to see if you actually made the recovery?
JA: No. I just went back out there and played ball.
BS: It looked like you were motioning to ( Vikings coach) Brad Childress to throw the flag (to dispute the call). Were you?
JA: Yeah. I didn't see anybody touch it. I thought I had it. Obviously, upstairs they didn't think it was the right call (to give him the fumble recovery).
BS: How much has Ray Edwards come on? (Edwards, who plays opposite Allen at left defensive end, had five tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery Sunday.)
JA: He's doing good. He's playing well. He has been playing well all season. He probably could have had four or five sacks today if we didn't miss (Stafford).
BS: Has Edwards been watching film of you or have you been working with him?
JA: Nah, we're two different people. I try to help him out wherever I can and just go out there and play ball.
BS: Did you think your team was missing something early from the (bye week) layoff?
JA: You guys act like this was a bad game.
BS: Early on it was.
JA: It was 27-10. We were up, what, 10-3 at halftime. It happens. You play two halves. You don't play halves. You play a full game. I'll take 27-10 any day of the week.
BS: How close were you to making that interception?
JA: It was right in my hands. I can't believe I dropped it. I'm going to go home and cry about it. ... I just didn't get it done.
