Pats re-sign Connolly
The New England Patriots have re-signed center Dan Connolly, the team announced.
Connolly, 29, has played for the Patriots for the past five seasons, starting at both guard and center, with 28 starts in the past three seasons.
He started 11 games at center last season, also starting three playoff games, including the Super Bowl.
The 6-foot-4, 313-pounder entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005 out of Southeast Missouri State.

Mays' Broncos pact detailed
Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays three-year contract is worth $12 million and includes $4.5 million in guaranteed money through a fully guaranteed $3.5 million base salary this year, a $500,000 signing bonus and $500,000 of his base salary in 2013 being fully guaranteed, according to a league source with knowledge of the deal.
Mays is due a $4 million base salary in 2013 and a $3.5 million base salary in 2014 when he's due a $500,000 roster bonus.
Mays, 26, visited the New Orleans Saints and was scheduled to visit the Indianapolis Colts

Anderson visiting Bills tonight
Hours after visiting the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots veteran free agent defensive end Mark Anderson is visiting the Buffalo Bills tonight.
The Bills announced his visit and released a photograph of him shaking hands with team officials upon his arrival. Anderson visited the Tennessee Titans this weekend and previously visited the Miami Dolphins.
Anderson, 28, recorded 10 sacks and forced two fumbles last season for the Patriots, operating as a speedy edge pass rusher.

Cardinals re-sign Doucet to two-year deal
The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed wide receiver Early Doucet to a two-year contract, rewarding him after a career-high season.
Doucet caught 54 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns last year, his fourth NFL season as he played in every game.
Doucet caught a game-winning screen pass against the Philadelphia Eagles, also catching touchdown passes fo 70 yards and 60 yards against the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers, respectively.

FB Felton joins Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers fullback Jerome Felton following his visit today.
Felton is a former Detroit Lions fifth-round draft pick from Furman who has started 19 career games.
Felton started for the Lions in the past, but was cut on Aug. 30.

Report: Smith, 49ers agree to terms
The San Francisco 49ers agreed to terms with quarterback Alex Smith, NFL Network reported on Tuesday.
The terms were not disclosed.
Smith, who had been a free agent on a short-term deal from last offseason, progressed in the 49ers defense. Smith led the 49ers to the NFC Championship game last season in head coach Jim Harbaugh’s first season.

Oakland Raiders veteran free agent Michael Bush visited the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a league source.
Bush has previously visited the Chicago Bears.
Bush, 27, is a 6-foot-1, 245-pound from Louisville who rushed for a career-high 977 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 37 passes for 418 yards last season.

Denver Broncos veteran free agent defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley visited the New Orleans Saints, a league source confirmed.
A big, run-stuffing presence at 6-foot-2, 306 pounds, Bunkley had 43 tackles last season for the Broncos.
For his career, the former Philadelphia Eagles first-round draft pick from Florida State has 187 career tackles, six sacks and seven pass deflections.

Source: Lawson draws interest from Browns
Cincinnati Bengals veteran free agent defensive end Manny Lawson is drawing interest from the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts, according to a league source.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder had 52 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks last season for the Bengals.
For his career, Lawson, 27, has 292 tackles, 16 1/2 sacks, six forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Dolphins sign Westerman, Ryan Baker
The Miami Dolphins have signed former New York Jets linebacker Jamaal Westerman and re-signed defensive end Ryan Baker, the team announced today.
The Dolphins made it official, terminating safety Yeremiah Bell's contract.
Westerman, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound Fort Lauderdale native who played at Rutgers, recorded a career-high 32 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks last season.

Source: Birk's deal worth $8.52 million
Baltimore Ravens six-time Pro Bowl center Matt Birk's three-year contract is worth $8.52 million and includes a $2.1 million signing bonus, according to a league source.
Birk, 35, is due base salaries of $925,000, $2.75 million and $2.75 million over the next three years.
His salary-cap figures are $1.625 million, $3.45 million and $3.45 million.

Lions keep Tulloch
The Detroit Lions held onto linebacker Stephen Tulloch by hammering out a five-year contract today, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
Tulloch registered a team-high 111 tackles last season after joining the Lions on a one-year contract last year. He previously played for the Tennessee Titans.
"I want to thank all of the Detroit Lion fans for sticking with me through this process," Tulloch wrote on his Twitter account after news broke of the deal to remain in Detroit. "This is a special team & I'm glad to be apart of it."

Lichtensteiger signs tender
Offensive lineman Kory Lichtensteiger has signed his one-year, $1.26 million restricted free agent tender to remain with the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins also announced Tuesday that defensive end Adam Carriker has signed his new deal. Carriker last week agreed to a four-year, $20 million contract with $7 million guaranteed.
Lichtensteiger returns for his third season in Washington. He started the first five games at left guard last season before going on injured reserve with torn ligaments in his right knee.
Carriker also returns for his third season with the Redskins. He had 5 1/2 sacks last season.

Veteran free agent center Jeff Saturday isn't necessarily a lock to join the Denver Broncos.
Saturday is visiting the Green Bay Packers today followed by visits with the Tennessee Titans and the Broncos, a league source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
Saturday was cut by the Indianapolis Colts prior to free agency as their roster experienced a major upheaval.

Former San Diego Chargers and Carolina Panthers defensive end Everette Brown is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions Wednesday, a league source confirmed. Brown, 24, is a former Panthers second-round draft pick from Florida State who worked out for the New York Giants, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and the Lions since being released by Carolina prior to the regular season last year.
As a rookie, Brown recorded 22 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Dolphins' fans protesting lack of success
The Miami Dolphins' lack of success at landing top free agents has enraged some of their fan base, prompting an old-fashioned picket line today.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, roughly 30 protesters, including some wearing paper bags over their heads, have assembled outside the Dolphins' offices. The Dolphins failed to land quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn and signed David Garrard after he was out of football last year due to a back injury.

Ted Ginn visiting the Vikings
San Francisco 49ers veteran free agent wide receiver-kick returner Ted Ginn is visiting the Minnesota Vikings after visiting the Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
A former Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick from Ohio State, Ginn, 26, caught 19 passes last season, scoring on both punt and kickoff returns.
He ranked second in the league in punt return yardage with a 13.3 average.

Hines Ward expected to announce retirement
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is holding a press conference today where he's expected to announce his retirement after being released from the AFC North franchise prior to free agency.
This ends an era of toughness and clutch play from Ward.
“We had a conversation today with Hines Ward and informed him that we plan to release him of his contract prior to the start of the 2012 NFL calendar year,” Steelers team president Art Rooney II said in a statement earlier this month. “Hines has been an integral part of our success since we drafted him in 1998 and we will forever be grateful for what he has helped us achieve. He has meant so much to this organization, both on and off the field, and we appreciate his efforts over the past 14 years. Hines’ accomplishments are numerous, and he will always be thought of as one of the all-time great Steelers. We wish him nothing but the best.”

Bush staying with Packers
Veteran free agent defensive back Jarrett Bush has agreed to a three-year contract to stay with the Green Bay Packers after visiting the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Jets, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
No financial details were available.
Bush also drew interest from the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers remain a possibility for Bush to be re-signed.
The Jets attempted to sign Reggie Nelson, but he rejoined the Cincinnati Bengals and have also met with Washington Redskins free agent safety LaRon Landry.

Ross to Jaguars
New York Giants free agent cornerback Aaron Ross has reached a three-year, $15.3 million maximum value deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a league source confirmed.
Ross started all but one game last season for the Super Bowl champions and recorded 60 tackles, 12 pass deflections and four interceptions.
He visited the Washington Redskins earlier this week.
The Ross deal was first reported by ESPN.

Source: Titans sign Kamerion Wimbley to $35M deal
Former Oakland Raiders outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley has agreed to a five-year, $35 million contract with the Tennessee Titans, a league source confirmed.
The contract includes $13.5 million guaranteed.
The story was first reported by Adam Caplan of Sirius NFL radio.
Wimbley, 28, immediately became one of the top pass rushers available once he was cut by the Raiders last week due to salary-cap reasons. He has 369 career tackles, 42 1/2 sacks and eight forced fumbles.

The Denver Broncos have re-signed offensive guard Manny Ramirez.
Ramirez, 29, is a 6-foot-3, 313-pounder from Texas Tech.
He has played five NFL seasons, appearing in 20 games.

Agent: Woodyard back to Broncos on 2-year deal
Veteran linebacker Wesley Woodyard has rejoined the Denver Broncos on a two-year contract, according to his agent. "He's happy to be back," agent Tony Fleming told Scout in a text message.
Woodyard, 25 recorded 97 tackles and two forced fumbles last season.
In four NFL seasons, the former University of Kentucky standout has started 16 games and registered 233 career tackles, one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles.
