--The Vikings will return from their bye on Nov. 15 by playing host to the Detroit Lions. The Vikings have not lost to Detroit at the Metrodome since the 1997 season.
--DE Jared Allen led the Vikings in sacks last season with 14.5 and currently leads the league with 10.5 after getting three last Sunday against the Packers. That gives him 7.5 sacks this season vs. Green Bay. Allen didn't face Chad Clifton in either game because the Packers left tackle was injured.
--Brett Favre posted some impressive numbers against the Packers this season. Going against the franchise for which he played 16 seasons, the quarterback threw for 515 yards with seven touchdowns, no interceptions and he wasn't sacked once.
--RB Adrian Peterson has rushed for nine touchdowns this season, only one fewer than he had all of last season and he has played half as many games at this point. Peterson's regular-season high for rushing touchdowns came in 2007 when he had 12 as a rookie.
--TE Visanthe Shiancoe's six touchdown catches this season are one away from his career-high total of seven from last season. Shiancoe's six TD receptions lead the Vikings and are tied for second in the league.
--Vikings coach Brad Childress has been pleased with the progress of his offensive line, which includes first-year starters John Sullivan at center and Phil Loadholt at right tackle. "They continue to grow," Childress said. "Like I said in the beginning of the year, typically it takes a while for that unit of five to evolve and I just think their evolution will continue. They are doing a good job now of talking with each other in some tough environments to communicate with the noise and that. But I think they're doing a good job and I think they are all on the same page with Sully. He's kind of directing the show and he and the quarterback have a good relationship directing the show as well."
BY THE NUMBERS: 97 -- Games between holding penalties on Steve Hutchinson. The Pro Bowl left guard was called for a hold last Sunday against Green Bay, the first time that has happened since Nov. 30, 2003, when he was called for the same infraction while playing for the Seattle Seahawks.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "What really has impressed me the most is just knowing as an offensive unit and defense and all three phases that we haven't played a complete game. So I look at that and I'm like, 'Man, once we really cross all the T's and dot all the I's, we can really be good.' So that's probably the thing that's positive the most." -- Running back Adrian Peterson on what has impressed him about the Vikings' 7-1 start.
