But Orgeron, the former Ole Miss coach who is in his first year as a pro coach, said what he told the Baton Rouge Advocate on Monday, that no one has contacted him about either job. But he again said he wouldn't turn down the opportunity to talk to LSU coach Les Miles if he called.
"I love being in the NFL, and obviously, there's speculation out there because Lane Kiffin and I are good friends," said Orgeron, who admitted that he would always consider talking to Tennessee and LSU because of the possibility of winning a national championship. "That's the only thing about it. I have not been contacted by anybody about a job."
--Even though he wasn't even in an NFL training camp this summer, rookie kicker Garrett Hartley is turning out to be quite a find for the Saints.
Hartley nailed field goals of 43 and 47 yards in wind and rain in a 23-20 setback to the Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday. He's now made all eight of his field-goal attempts and is 13-for-13 in extra points since being signed by the Saints on Oct. 29.
Hartley's 47-yard field goal in the first quarter against the Bucs was a career-long for Hartley, who is the third kicker the Saints have used this season -- following Martin Gramatica and Taylor Mehlhaff.
--Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a horrible final quarter in the loss to the Bucs on Sunday, but he did set a personal milestone when he went over the 25,000-yard mark in career passing yards.
Brees, who was intercepted three times (twice in the final 2:33), threw for 296 yards against the Bucs' second-ranked pass defense.
Sunday's game boosted Brees' career total to 25,059 yards in eight NFL seasons -- five with the San Diego Chargers and the past three with the Saints.
--Saints owner Tom Benson recently announced that the team will not raise season-ticket prices for the 2009 season and will also maintain the same fees for parking.
The Saints have sold out the 70,000-seat Superdome on a season-ticket basis the past three years and has a waiting list of 43,000 potential ticket buyers, which Benson said was a factor in his decision to freeze prices.
"I believe we have the most loyal fans in the NFL, and the support we've had from our season ticket holders since 2006 has been unprecedented in our club's history," said Benson. "It's a streak I wanted to acknowledge and see continue."
BY THE NUMBERS: 0-18 - That's the Saints record under Sean Payton in games in which they trailed after three quarters.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't know how much of an opinion we're even allowed to have anymore when it comes to NFL issues, but obviously, I completely disagree with it. I think it's stupid. I think it's wrong, although I'm not surprised in the least bit." -- Saints SLB Scott Fujita, on the four-game suspensions handed to three of his teammates for violating the league's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
