New York Giants Notes, Quotes
by Sports Xchange
--The Giants have appeared in four Super Bowls in franchise history (winning XXI and XXV, losing XXXV). Then they won XLII last February. They are now trying to find a way to beat their post-SB jinx, because in the first three post-SB seasons they failed to earn a playoff spot. Their records were 6-9 (1988, one game lost due to NFL Players strike), 8-8 (1991) and 7-9 (2001).
--Two current roster members not only played for Tom Coughlin when he was head coach in Jacksonville but were drafted by him as well. They are DE Renaldo Wynn (first round, 1997) and SLB Danny Clark (seventh round, 2000).--Two RBs on the active roster were both plucked from the New York Jets' practice squad, Derrick Ward and Danny Ware.
BY THE NUMBERS: 2. The number of former first-overall draft selections on the Giants roster. Both are QBs, David Carr (2002) and Eli Manning (2004). No other team can match that number.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Do I find it difficult to play for Tom Coughlin because people say he is such a disciplinarian and such a difficult man? Heck no, you've got to remember that I played at Notre Dame for Lou Holtz. I'll take Coughlin." -- Giants' DE Renaldo Wynn, signed as a UFA last June.
