Jared Allen's days with the Chiefs appear to be numbered.

Allen, the NFL's reigning sack leader, told FOXSports.com that the Vikings and Buccaneers have held trade talks with the Chiefs and he anticipates a deal will get done prior to next week's draft.

"It's a situation that works out best for both sides," Allen told FOXSports.com. "I can go to a team that is competing for a championship right now. The Chiefs can get valuable draft picks to rebuild with."

Allen said he is flying to Minnesota and has a visit set up with the Vikings by this weekend. He is tentatively scheduled to meet with Tampa Bay next week. The Jacksonville Jaguars had previously inquired with Allen's camp as well.

The Pro Bowl defensive end is the Chiefs' franchise player, but re-signing in Kansas City will be a problem as the team is looking to stockpile draft picks.

Allen said the two sticking points are working out terms of a deal with a new team and the Chiefs agreeing to compensation for a trade. A package of first- and second-round picks or one of first- and third-round picks in the upcoming draft have been discussed as possible terms. It's unclear at this point what it will take to get the deal done.

Allen, a four-year veteran, led the league in sacks in 2007 with 15.5 and has 13 forced fumbles in the past three seasons.

With Allen on our defensive line, we have the best d line in the league. However, Allen has been caught twice drinking and driving, and if he gets caught one more time he can be suspended. Gered announced that he doesnt drink anymore, but im still nervous........
I also hope hes worth it because we are paying him alot.

The Chiefs are not a complete waste of season ticket money. Whether we win or lose,Sunday mornings at Arrowhead are priceless.

Kurgen, Cincinatti is killing me..they let Williams go? They really don't value that safety position at all. If Kenny Phillips were guarenteed to live up to his superstar potential I'd say pick him up at 9 instead of a D lineman. But he's no sean taylor or for that matter brandon merriweather. Safety U has dropped off this year...

The Vikes D would be a beast with K-P WIlliams, Allen, and Edwards. Plus E.J., Greenway, and Leber blitzing would give Qb's nightmares.
All we need then would be a QB and we would have a legitimate shot at the Bowl. Maybe im delusional haha. AD will run for over 2000 this year.....

ahhh, that would be sweet Jared allen wearing purple. 1st and 2nd picks would definatly be worth it. Allen would be one of the main missing pieces in a oh so closly constructed puzzel.

this tells me the Chiefs will take Dorsey or Ellis at #5 which makes some sense if you get enough in return for Allen but those are tough shoes to fill (also risky shoes based on his history)

Oaktown..ive followed gallery thoughout college and the pros..gallery was the right pick not his fault the raiders moved him to gaurd...he had some growing pains but just as he showed signs of improvement he gets moved around...

as for Jared Allen he isnt going anywhere i hear the chiefs want 2 first rounders now

Its like trading for D-McNabb he wants to go to a contender but the pricetag is to high

The only good thing Carl Peterson has done was draft Derrick Thomas. I have watched the Chiefs religously for as long as I can remember. At times it's been difficult then Marty and Carl came in and it was fun. Now it's starting to look like the days before them. I'll always be loyal but it is getting tougher and tougher.

gallery was a big 10 stud just like J.Long is. the got exposed at left tackle now I think he's playing guard. wasted draft pick. Knowing what I know now I would never take an o-lineman in the first 10 picks. Jake long included.

In need of O-line for sure! Doesn't matter who is the QB if you have **** for an O-line. We also need it in hope that L.J. will rack up some yardage

Here's what the chiefs need besides o-lineman. Experienced receivers, defensive backfield, if Allen leaves add DE to the list, kicker, new head coach and GM/president.

The 2007 draft (5th round) Carl drafted the kicker from UCLA. Mason Crosby of Col was available(best in college) and went the wrong way. We all know how Mason turned out. Now the chiefs have to hunt for another kicker.

Uhh? Fortunately, the Vikes picked up Madieu Williams from Cinci, and Michael Boulware from Seattle to shore up the safety pos. Antoine Winfield was hurt last year. They have depth at corner. The lack of pass rush was half the problem. A pro-bowl end could make them a top 5 overall defense.

Like any qb, you never know until there given a chance. But even then, the best qb in football couldn't perform without a good offensive line.

they say the chiefs need an o-lineman. don't make the same mistake we did with gallery early in the draft. If ryan is there I wonder what herm is gonna do.

derrikthomas58fan(without the"c")....How can you keep putting down other teams, when the chiefs might win a game. I remember the era of 1975-1988. Carl Peterson has brought us back to that era. How long it will last, who knows!
