Sources: Packers say Vikings tampered with Favre
Favre to Minnesota?
Brett Favre as a Viking? If you're in tune to the rumor mill, you know it's a possibility. Where else could the Packer legend end up? Alex Marvez runs down the list of contenders HERE.
In the latest twist, the Packers have filed tampering charges with the league office against the Minnesota Vikings for alleged communication with Favre, still technically a member of Green Bay, FOXSports.com has learned. The league, according to a source, is currently in information-gathering mode, speaking to members of both teams.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press that the league had no public comment on the report. Packers general manager Ted Thompson declined to comment on tampering rumors in an interview with the AP on Saturday.
The Vikings were informed late last week that the allegation is that Favre has had inappropriate dialogue with Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, a close Favre friend and former assistant coach with the Packers. Favre has sought his release from Green Bay and several rumors have swirled that Minnesota is his targeted landing place, largely due to his relationship with Bevell.

League sources say the Vikings vehemently denied any wrongdoing and are awaiting the league's next step in the process. The Packers, meanwhile, have supplied the league with their version of wrongdoing.
On Thursday, the Vikings declined to comment on the matter. Team spokesman Bob Hagan issued a two-sentence statement, saying the Vikings "are not commenting on the issue. These types of matters are handled by the league."
Should the league find the Vikings guilty of tampering, they could lose draft picks and/or face fines.
The entire affair escalated to an ugly level this week when Favre conducted an interview with FOX News' Greta Van Susteren in which the living legend took the Packers to task for refusing to release him. In fact, a leaked version of the transcript had Favre blasting GM Ted Thompson, but in another odd twist, that portion of the interview has not been shown on the air.
The Packers have refused to grant the league's all-time leading passer's request for a release due in part to their fear that he would sign with the Vikings. Despite the wave of speculation, Vikings head coach Brad Childress insists that Tarvaris Jackson is his guy.
The entire affair is unfortunate, as Favre is more synonymous with Green Bay than any other player is with a city. At the same time, however, fans are now forced to make judgments for or against their hometown hero/team.
Calls by FOXSports.com to head coaches of both teams have not yet been returned.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Get over it Pack/Favre fans. It's done. Childress can't talk with the guy, no matter who made the call. Favre has shown that he is no class act - he's acting like a psycho ex-girlfriend. The teamsthe Pack has called have no interest in Favre. And, frankly, he wasn't all that great to begin with. Deal with it and treat Rodgers the way he should. Knowing Pack fans though, they'll boo the hell out of the guy and make sure that he has no chance to succeed. Just ask Dan Devine about that. And, by the way, Lombardi retired and came out of retirement - he didn't leave the Pack for the Redskins. Pay attention.

OK... so all indications are that Favre made cell phone calls to the Vikings on a Packer cell phone.

The key here is that it is being reported that FAVRE MADE THE CALLS. How can that be considered to be tampering?

If it were the Vikings making the calls to Favre... then I could see grounds for the tampering charge... BUT NOT FOR HOW IT HAS BEEN REPORTED SO FAR!

BRETT -- show up at training camp! The Packers need you much more than they need Ted Thompson.

Ted used a #1 draft for a QB they didn't need. The Packers needed OL and impact defense players, but no..... Ted wants to start his OWN team. He's been wanting to rid the Packers of Favre for four years. Not sure why, but it is just crazy. An NFL team wants to dump a PRO BOWL QB, team MVP, and the guy who led them to the NFC Championship. I still remember those 22 years of no playoffs and 3 winning seasons before Favre came on the scene. That's not the direction the Packers should be looking for.

Get BRETT back in Green and Gold!!

Our green Bay Packer organizaion's legacy will suffer, on a "national level" for our treatment of Brett Favre.

You don't push a HOF player out your door than right of the NFL all together, the ramifications will be heard about every Sunday for years to come.

All Ted had to do was release him with a little class, but no, instead of possibly facing Brett during the season, our Green Bay management would rather face a national PR nightmare for years to come. This move will be questioned every Sunday by sports writer's every where. Hey, at least Ted got to save a little face in the short term though, right ?

Will it be worth it long term Green Bay ?

Hey aren't the Vikings the same sanctimonious team that felt compelled to report the Patriots for their waiver-wire indiscretions? Flat out amazes me.. I guess it takes a cheater to know a cheater....

Favre is "technically" a Packer. He's under contract for several more years. That "technically" is the same as saying that "technically" Peyton Manning is still a Colt. Favre's future is entirely in Thompson's hands, and it's a lock that he won't trade Brett to any NFC North rival, much less to the Cryqueens.

Determination111... you really need to check you facts, Favre was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and was there one year before being traded to the Packers. And he was not the starter until the fourth game of the 92 season.

Hall of fame coach Vince Lombardi left the Packers to coach the Washington Redskins so this would not be the first time a great member of the organization has moved on to another team.

Brett Favre has has been loyal to this team for 17 straight years and that in itself; has earned him the right for release from a team, where management had already moved on, some time ago. Green Bay management should not have it both ways here. They should do what is right for the "Whole NFL" as well as Brett and let the man go.

Free the man to play Ted, it's good for the whole NFL.

Brett Favre a homosexual? That carries a lot of weight from someone who calls himself "beeboy". He who doth protest too much is engaging in wishful thinking.

This is all a bunch Horse Crap, designed by the PACKERS to deflect criticism of Favre and is a public campaign, because of his association with Bevel, innuendo a relationship throw up a road block in front of the VIKINGS, if there is a possible connection, at present nothing is known and it?s near impossible to know, unless Favre, or a VIKING Admits wrong doing.

A none story, let it die, the purpose has been set; if Favre was to later after his release, talk to VIKINGS, the PACKERS will say, see we told you, they were talking illegally before. All this to keep Favre from the Viking/Packers hating Management and HATING, is not even close to what the PACKERS FEEL FOR ALLTHINGS VIKINGS.

The PACKERS will give Favre his release, but not until they have robbed him of Pre-season and as big a part of the Regular season, trying to get him to go out of the NFL North Division and land late, so his chances of helping any other team are lessoned.

The key here is that the PACKERS would rob a player, late in his career of TIME, something all NFL Player have a limited amount of, I for one would believe, very little in loyalty with a management that did that to any player late in his career and should tell FANS a lot about the NFL.

I am so sick of hearing about Bret Farve!!! Retire already....you already quit twice, you just can't keep changing your mind. Get over it! Green Bay is too cold of a place to be anyway. They should ban it from the NFL anyway, ha!
