The Green Bay Packers have apparently decided they need a little help on the public relations front when it comes to handling the ongoing Brett Favre saga.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Packers will employ former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer for one month as a consultant.

Fleischer, who was President George W. Bush's official spokesperson for a majority of his first term in office, is now president of Ari Fleischer Sports Communications, a joint venture with IMG.

According to an Associated Press report, Fleischer met with Packers players Thursday, but the meeting was scheduled several weeks ago, before the Favre controversy flared up. The report also said while Fleischer didn't focus on how players should handle the Favre situation, the topic was discussed.

"Obviously it's a topic, and it wasn't ignored," Fleischer told the AP in a phone interview Thursday.

Well with TT bloated ego. he probably thinks this is the whitehouse. That man is so full of himself, it a discrace to Packerism blue collars attitudes. Never has a GM screwed up so much, driven away so many fans. I am now a Jets fan,,and sometimes a pack fan untill we get rid of Sleezey Ted! I am glad he wasnt traded to the vikes, I dont know if i could have been able to cheer for them. I know i can be a Jets fan for a few yrs!

Absolutely agree Warren, I have been a diehard Pack fan since the 50-60's when i met Nitch,,in sodak hunting pheasants. But you could see this divorce coming for 2-3 yrs as Ted wanted things going his direction. And that didnt include an older Vet QB.,,I hope we fans can someday take our club away from TT. On the Pos side, I think TT is just wanting this as a stepping stone for a spot in the sun/starlight someplace. hope he leaves soon!

2007 Was a FLUKE, I remember 2006, "4-12", Brett Favre at QB, everyone saying he should hang it up before he embarrasses himself.
Well he didn't and now he has embarrasses the whole organization. He ought to stay retired and go into politics, there his flip-flopping would be accepted and all the Favre Huggers could vote for their favorite.
This is a business and when you quit you are out the door. Period. End of story.

Grean Bay has hired a PR hitman to counter the fans and Brett Favre's wise idea to not just walk away empty handed after years of good service... He was treated with such disregard and it is shameful what Green Bay is trying to setup. Release Brett and let him take the best deal out there... stop the bull-crap what a stupid coach and managment will do just to make themselves look better is beyond the average fans concept. Let Favre go and stop the bull-crap and lies.

Well spoken D111- I've been a packer fan for 47 years and i've never seen such foolishness coming from a General Manager. I really can't believe that he's orchestrated this all by himself. for someone to create such an atmosphere that Brett actually thinks he's not welcomed back in Green Bay. I beleive that the final decision should be up to the share holders/and the fans not Ted Thompson and his puppets that are out there dangling on a string, hoping they don't diappoint him and lose their jobs. And the news media, come on now. I know you want to keep our interest going in each statement you make, but someone out there please, please call it the way it is.D11, you said it well, Management -- eat a little crow and get your respect back by doing the right thing. give Brett the respect that he deserves. if you don't it will come back and haunt you.At this moment , I have no respect for you at all. It takes a big person to admit they screwed up. If you can't do that, then maybe that train that left the station is carrying your luggage dgsbrkwi

If Green Bay Management dies the right thing there is no need for a PR man from the white House to try and make them look good:

Green Bay Management,

Do the right thing "This issue has humbled us all in one way or another" so you are not alone in that respect. We know Brett's not in the cards for Green Bay and that is your call but you know that doesn't mean Brett should not start (even if that means facing him).Isn't that truly what real competition is all about ?

So you have lost some respect over this but what's done has been done; for better and for worse. Get your respect back by doing the right thing, get the Green Bay organizations respect back by giving Brett his respect back.

You know what you have to do and you will take some heat for the decision but it's better than what is happening to all parties right now.

Free the man, take the heat that comes with it but gain your respect and most fans back by not being afraid to release the man that is no longer wanted in Green Bay.

I, for one, want to be able to cheer the Packers and Brett this season. Free Brett !

Hey D...if they did hire him...where was he? I thought he was handling all the PR...Man, this is going to drag on as long as the Packers can make it so when Favre DOES leave, it will be difficult for him to prepare. They really want him to quit, not retire.

Oh great, it's not bad enough that we get double talk about politics, now we'll get it for football too... Well, that about sums up Packers management these days, corporate football comes to Green Bay, just when you thought perhaps they were just a little bit different than all the rest...

Favre will be the opening QB when the season starts, hands down. It is a no-brainer. And the fans and shareholders in the majority should celebrate his return,as they had everything to do with it. You really think the team would trade him now? And you don't think Goodell had some choice ADVICE for GB management? It's about the bottom line for everybody. Image and Money. So, don't expect a trade. That's just BS by the media to keep viewers in any capacity for their bottom line.
