Three-time Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday will miss at least the first six weeks of the season with a torn MCL, his agent, Ralph Cindrich, told the Indianapolis Star. Saturday could be sidelined longer if he decides to have surgery on the knee.
Even if Saturday chooses not to have surgery, the prospects of his return are questionable.
"I don't think he'll be able to get back on the field for at least six or seven weeks,'' Cindrich told the paper. "He's down for a while.''
Saturday sustained the injury during the Colts' preseason loss to Buffalo on Sunday.
An All-Pro each of the last three seasons, Saturday has started every game for the Colts since the start of the 2005 campaign. This is the final year of his current contract.
"Right now he's just biding time,'' Cindrich told the Star. "Jeff wants (the knee) to settle down and we'll do a little more research on it, a little more talking to make sure we're on solid ground (with any decision).''
