Westbrook has fractured ribs; status in doubt

All-Pro running back Brian Westbrook broke two ribs in the Eagles' 23-17 loss to Washington on Sunday, though he kept playing and finished the game.

Westbrook missed one game this season with an ankle injury, but it's too early to know if his latest injury will keep him out of Sunday's game at San Francisco.

"We just have to see," coach Andy Reid said Monday. "We have to see how it all works out and exactly the pain level there. Right now, he's very sore, so we'll see how things go over the next few days."

Westbrook had 84 total yards against the Redskins. He leads the Eagles (2-3) with 194 yards rushing and has six touchdowns, two receiving.

He said he was taking a wait-and-see approach, but that Correll Buckhalter should take his place in the backfield if the injury is limiting him too much later in the week.

"Do I want to be out there at 45 percent and not wanting to take a hit and hurting this team more than I'm helping it?" Westbrook asked on his radio show on 950 ESPN. "No. ... I wouldn't want to set the team back like that."

wow, why so much hate for philadelphia. not all eagles fans are obnixious. even if westbrook was 100% the eagles are getting worse as the season progresses and reid is not making gametime or weekly adjustments to correct these problem areas. O lines are supposed to push, not be pushed. tagging LJ Smith a franchise player is a big mistake. mcnabb, reid and laurie brought respect to a franchise that really never deserved any. i am proud to be an eagles fan but all due respect i feel this season is over. nobody can touch the giants (they are way too good) and the cowboys and skins are playing well. i am not thin skinned but the eagles bashing is so 1985. never jumped from the bandwagon and never will. i think all objective football fans can see this season is over for the eagles.

mc4dc, the redskins are doing well and I couldn't be happier that they beat the cowboys, but just remember that the Giants are still the team to beat in the NFC East and in the NFL. We seem to play better on the road anyway. I'm looking forward to playing you guys in your house.

I agree redskins4481, I am not predicting that we will go 7-1, I simply said it is possible. I did get a lil too excited near the end of my last post, and probably overstated things just a tad bit, but I feel strongly about my team, and even more so given what they have done the past few weeks. It's just ashame that Seattle couldn't do any real damage to the Giants this past week, that would have really helped our cause. I just, well, relish what we have done to division opponents in their house, given that, we they return to our house, we, as die hard Skins fans, should expect a bit more. I apologize if I got overboard in my excitement for this season, and will end by saying, I do see good things in our not too distant future.

In Hog Heaven!!!

mc4dc: I am glad that you are a redskins fan but thinking too far ahead is dangerous.there is no such thing as a gimme in the nfl . I also will not criticize joe gibbs like you. he built this team so he deserves credit not smart mouthed critisism. I will always be a gibbs fan in both stints with the skins and anyone who thinks different is a fool.

I haven't posted since just before the game Sunday, but I have monitored the boards to see what has been said. I am curious, were are all the smack talking Iggles fans now? I am not gonna sit here and talk schidt, I just thought it was frackin hilarious that there was all this, Skins are 6 point underdogs, we are gonna kill the Skins, 34-17, and so on and so on. I pay respce to the Iggles team, they started out handing our arses to us, just couldn't keep it up for 60 minutes. I took the Skins and the 6 points, even though I said I didn't think we would need them. Skins nation is enjoying a supreme high right now, and deservedly so. Even though we made the playoffs last season, it was a half-arsed attempt at it. I loved the Glory Day Gibbs, but acknowledge, he has lost it in the NFL. I vividly remember some of the Skins glory days, and relish the fact that they are finally on the route to becoming that once again. We could very well go into Pittsburg with a 7-1 record. The second half of the season is going to be a cakewalk for us compared to the first half. We have already played all of our NFC East opponents, and on the road at that, meaning they have to come to our house next time. That, along with the fact that our next three games might as well be gimmes, we should be on a roll come time for division opponents to come to Fed-Ex Field.

Hail to the Redskins!!!
Hang em High Hogs!!!

This kind of Skin Pride has been a long time in returning, and now that it's here, NFL watch out!!!

Yeah, I've had broken ribs too. It's hard enough to breathe, let alone play football. He's definitely earning his contract money. I'm a hot black single girl, I feel lonely... What I really need is love, Feel free to chat with me on "B l a c k W h i t e K i s s . c o m" where i upload my photos and many black or white singles seeking love online.

Eagles really don't need him this week. I'd suit him up, but only use him if it is needed. Either way they will stomp the 49ers

Poor Eagle fans. Always opening their mouths with nothing to show for it. The press always saying how they have the team to go to the Superbowl but they have ZERO Superbowls to speak of.

They are the doormat of the NFC East with nothing to show for anything they have tried to do.

Keep talking Eagles fans. Maybe that is all you have to keep you from being totally miserable.
