Every week, the experts of FOX NFL Sunday will candidly reveal their observations and make their opinions known as they prepare for their top-rated pregame telecast — seen each Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT. We'll share with you some of the highlights and observations from Curt, Terry, Howie, Jimmy and Strahan grabbed from their weekly conference call with insider John Czarnecki and pregame show producer Scott Ackerson.

This week, Czar probes FOX NFL Sunday on some of the big games of the week, plus which teams can survive the brutal NFC East and whether or not the Giants are truly the class of the NFL's toughest division.

  • THIS WEEK'S FOX NFL SUNDAY PANEL

Czar: "Are the Giants the best team in the NFC East?"

Howie Long: "I went back to look at the first game and New York's defensive front totally manhandled the Redskins."

Michael Strahan: "They are very, very underrated."

Terry Bradshaw: "And that's without you and Osi Umenyiora. Man, that is saying quite a bit."

HL: "You look at the Bears and they have flashes of stuff, but you can see that the defensive line drives the Giants. The defense feeds off of them."

Czar: "So, what team doesn't make the playoffs? There are three very good teams, but odds say that only two from the East will make it."

Jimmy Johnson: "I think they are going to beat themselves up and I agree that it will be hard for a third team to make it. Philadelphia is the other odd team out. But it's really hard right now to pick one of those other three and say it won't make the playoffs. But I will step up on Sunday and pick one."

HL: "I will abstain, too. I want to look at everything, especially the schedules down the stretch. But it should be addressed."

MS: "It shouldn't matter who they play. If they are a playoff team, a good team, they should be able to beat anybody."

JJ: "But that home stretch for Dallas is not easy. They end their season at Philadelphia and also go to Pittsburgh in December. The good thing is that the Cowboys have home games against San Francisco and Seattle at the end of November."

Czar: "Washington is now 2-1 on the road against the East; that has to help them."

HL: "Jason Campbell looked like a totally different quarterback in that first game against the Giants compared to how he has played the last couple of games. I mean, his timing routes are better and he's not holding the ball as much as he did in the opener. He looks really in sync. The question is, 'Is he that much better?' "

TB: "He is that much better."

HL: "The Giants are padding up the wins now."

MS: "They have a chance to be 6-0 before they get challenged by anybody. Eli and their offense looks so much better. They look really confident. On defense, they are really flying around."

Czar: "If the Giants were the Patriots, wouldn't we be talking about them possibly going undefeated?"

JJ: "You can't talk about the Giants that way because of how difficult their division is. With Patriots last year, it was easier to say because their division was so much easier."

MS: "You guys, you know what, the Giants are getting no love, no respect."

HL: "That starts with you, buddy. I think you picked the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl."

MS: "Do you guys remember a Richard Pryor standup routine? He talked about there being gangs everywhere, and that he was in gangs but that he was always in the gang that was winning. Well, I'm with the gang that is winning, my friends."

TB: "I don't know about gangs, but the Giants are really clicking on offense and they can run the ball. We talk about the Cowboys' offensive line, but the Giants have a pretty good line, too."

Czar: "What about the NFC North? Are the Bears the pick because of Kyle Orton?"

JJ: "I've always liked Orton. That was a good move on their part."

HL: "Green Bay is decimated right now. I like Chicago, too, right now. But that could change on Sunday."

TB: "Don't forget about that Tulane running back, Matt Forte. He's been a huge upgrade over Cedric Benson last season. And Minnesota still has a chance to get back into this race. I couldn't believe they beat the Saints in New Orleans. The Vikings have to be feeling good about that win."

Czar: "The South may be the most competitive division in the NFC because I figure the Saints — with Drew Brees playing so well — will get back into the race."

TB: "Brees will be getting some of his receivers back, like Jeremy Shockey and Marques Colston pretty soon."

Czar: "Even though Atlanta is 3-2, I'm not sure they will be around at the end. Matt Ryan has really surprised me with his poise and how he's run that offense."

HL: "I'm not surprised at all. I saw him a lot at Boston College and that team was not a talented team and he carried it last season."

Czar: "The Falcons had a stat prior to the draft that listed 67 drops by Boston College receivers last season."

HL: "Matt is very mature beyond his years. He's the kind of kid you want to draft. Tall, strong with a very good arm and he moves around well enough. He's not a runner. He's also very mentally tough. But you have to like Carolina in that division. They have a big offensive line and they have two solid backs. Moose (Muhammad) has been a big plus for that passing game and also in their locker room. That division is very interesting. The Bucs had their chances last Sunday in Denver and just couldn't pull it out."

TB: "I think Jeff Garcia is back in the starting lineup for the Bucs. But they still don't take the ball down the field enough for me."

JJ: "I tell you if Ryan didn't have Michael Turner behind him, he would be a normal rookie, struggling. As far as the class of South, you have to say Carolina. They have an experienced head coach. They have a running game and an experienced quarterback in Jake Delhomme."

HL: "Carolina should be the team. But they have also had 16 false start penalties on the offensive line and I think that's because they have had so many starters banged up there. If they get that straightened out, they should be fine."

TB: "I like the Panthers, too."
