Worth a thousand words:
The newspaper said Brady is on a six-week course of intravenous antibiotics and will continue to have follow-up exams at the clinic in Los Angeles where he had the surgery.
Brady confirmed for the first time Saturday that he'd undergone two operations on his injured left knee. The Herald, citing an unnamed source familiar with his treatment, said he's had two more since then because of infection.
If the infection is not brought under control, the Herald reports, the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady's anterior cruciate ligament could become compromised. If that happens, Brady could need to redo the surgery likely delaying his rehabilitation.
New England Patriots spokesman Stacey James said Wednesday the team would let Brady comment on the status of his injury.
Brady was injured in the first quarter of the season opener on a hit by Kansas City Chiefs safety. He has been widely reported to have sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but he and the team have not given specifics on the injury.

swwrite,<br /><br />I agree with you. It has to be MRSA. Zyvox is an option if Vanc fails.

beef thats a harsh post. I wonder why he didn't use that Andrews doctor in Birmingham. He must be good considering pretty much all the pro athletes see him.

although no one is saying it, i think brady has mrsa, which is a very serious infection that happens under the best of circumstances in hospitals all over the country.<br />this happens, the best you can do is treat it with IV vancomycin and hope it works.<br />i hope he doesnt need the procedure repeated, but that may be the only way to deal with an encapsulated infection.<br />come back tom, we miss you.

Where did Brady get his surgery and by whom? Was it Kerlin Jobe in Los Angeles?

Just a nother reason to stay at home , here in Boston. All our doctors are Pats fans. They'll take care of Tommy Boy.

I hear the Doctor was a Colts fan and he used dirty operating tools on purposes.

"How does this stuff happen? Brady's knee, Winslows whatever. Are they THAT unclean? who is doing the operation? What about antibiotics?"<br /><br />The excessive use of antibiotics and antibacterial solutions can cause things like this. Because of these products and their use in day to day life, they've actually created forms of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and normal sterilization procedures.<br /><br />I'm not saying this happens a lot or that's what happened here, but it does happen.

chrisrib....just actually finished physical therapy to heal a torn meniscus and strained ACL....not nearly as severe, but i thought your point was interesting and valid, especially given the nature of the injury....
peterfaden10/23/2008 13:36:00 PM(Report inappropriate content)
I had the ACL replaced and some of my meniscus removed in my left knee. My question is, why would a reputable surgeon use patellar tendon instead of hamstring? I have had no problems to date, and as a matter of fact, that knee is stronger and more stable than my "good" knee.

Best wished to him for a speedy recovery. He's missed.

I really hope they get this thing under control. Not just so he can play, but it sounds like this is a serious complication. What the hey.
