The Buccaneers dropped a 38-23 decision to the Panthers in Carolina on Monday night and had their 4-game win streak snapped in the process. The game marked the first time since October of 2001 vs. Green Bay that Tampa Bay has lost a game when committing zero turnovers (snaps 20-game win streak when having zero giveaways).
Including a 24-9 win earlier this season, the Bucs have beaten the Falcons three straight times by a combined score of 92-19. That said, these two teams have split the last four meetings in Atlanta, each winning twice.
Atlanta lost, 29-25, in New Orleans last weekend, snapping its modest 2-game win streak. The Falcons haven't lost back-to-back games since Weeks 15 and 16 in 2007.
The Falcons are averaging 32.2 points per game at home in 2008 the highest single-season average in franchise history and currently third best in football this season.
Roddy White had a career-high 164 receiving yards last Sunday, but despite averaging 112 receiving yards in each of his last four contests, has failed to reach the end zone in any of those games. With 1,249 receiving yards on the season, White needs 110 this week to set a new Falcon single-season record (currently held by Alfred Jenkins in 1981).
Michael Turner reached the end zone on the ground for the 14th time this season in Week 14 and is now tied with Jamal Anderson (1998) for most rush TDs in a single season in Falcons' franchise history. Turner has scored eight of those touchdowns in his last five games and his 34 runs of 10+ yards in 2008 are currently second most in football (A. Peterson-35).
Antonio Bryant recorded a career-high 200 receiving yards in last week's loss and is now just 64 yards shy of hitting the 1,000-yard plateau for the second time in his career (also in 2005 with Browns). Bryant also had two TDs last Sunday and with five on the season, needs one more to tie his career-high of six set in his rookie campaign (2002 with Cowboys).
Tampa Bay entered last week's contest allowing an average of 95.4 rush yards per game. Carolina had 299 yards on the ground against the Bucs in Week 14 tied for the second-most by any team vs. Tampa Bay in its franchise history (Atlanta holds the record 306 rush yards on 9/17/06).
The Redskins were defeated, 24-10, in Baltimore last Sunday and have now lost four of five games after beginning the season by winning six of eight contests. Washington has dropped 12 straight games when failing to score at least 14 points (since 10/30/05).
Washington is 1-2 vs. the AFC this season, beating Cleveland (14-11 in Week 7) and losing to Pittsburgh (23-6 in Week 9) and Baltimore. These teams last met in 2004 (a 17-10 Bengal victory) and the Redskins own a 4-3 all-time record against Cincinnati.
The Bengals lost, 35-3, to the Colts last weekend and have now dropped three straight games by a combined 96-16. With a .083 win percentage, Cincinnati needs one victory in its last three games to avoid its worst season in franchise history (2-14, .125 win pct. in 2002).
Cincinnati is 9-2-1 in its last 12 home games vs. NFC teams (since December 2002).
Ryan Fitzpatrick has 236 rushing yards in 2008 third most of any NFL quarterback. The last time any Bengals QB had more yards on the ground was in 1999 when Jeff Blake had a single-season franchise-high for Cincy quarterbacks with 332 rush yards.
The Redskins (33 pts) and Bengals (27 pts) are No. 30 and 31 in football when it comes to scoring points in the first quarter this season. Washington hasn't tallied a first-quarter score since Week 11 vs. Dallas and Cincinnati's last first-quarter points came vs. the Steelers in Week 12.
Cincinnati is currently averaging just 233.9 yards per game this season lowest in the league and lowest in Bengals franchise history. Last year Cincy averaged 348.0 yards per game (10th highest in football).
Clinton Portis rushed for a total of 54 yards in his last two games combined, tying his lowest combined output in back-to-back games as an NFL starting running back (also vs. Phi and Pit on 11/21/04-11/28/04).
The Titans beat the Browns, 28-9, in Week 14 and have now won eight games this season by 10 points or more. The Titans have clinched the AFC South for the first time since 2002 and have won a division title for the third time since moving from Houston to Tennessee in 1997.
Including a 31-12 win in Week 3, Tennessee has defeated Houston seven straight times overall. The Titans need one more victory in their last three games to tie the franchise-high for wins in a season (13-3 in both 1999 and 2000).
With a franchise-record 549 yards in its 24-21 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field last Sunday, Houston has now posted its second 3-game winning streak of the 2008 campaign. The Texans have won four straight games just once in franchise history (12/24/06-9/16/07), but have never accomplished the feat within the same season.
Matt Schaub returned from a knee injury and played for the first time since Week 9 last weekend. Schaub responded by recording a career-high 414 yards through the air against Green Bay and improved to 4-4 as the Texans starting QB in 2008. However, despite a win in Week 14, the Texans will miss the playoffs for the seventh straight season since joining the league in 2002.
Chris Johnson rushed for 136 yards against the Browns last Sunday and now has 1,094 yards on the ground in 2008. Johnson has moved ahead of Matt Forte (1,081) for most rush yards among 2008 rookies and is the fifth different Titan back to top the 1,000-yard plateau in the last six seasons (E. George in 2003, C. Brown in 2004, T. Henry in 2006 and L. White in 2007).
Steve Slaton recorded his third 100-yard rush performance in his last four games last weekend and has also gone over the 1,000-yard mark this season. Slaton is the first Texan back to go over 1,000 rush yards since 2004 and needs just 165 yards on the ground in his last three contests to break Domanick Williams' franchise record of 1188 rush yards (done in 2004).
With 55 receiving yards in Week 14, Andre Johnson broke his own single-season franchise record of 1147 yards in 2006. Johnson now has 1201 yards this season and his 92 catches are second-most in the league (Welker-96).
Since coming to Tennessee in 2006, Kerry Collins is 12-4 (.750) as Titan starting quarterback Collins had a combined win percentage of just .455 (66-79 with Car, NO, NYG and Oak) prior to joining the Titans.
Detroit fell to 0-13 for the first time in franchise history with its 20-16 home loss to the Vikings in Week 14. Dating to last year, the Lions have now dropped 14 straight games overall and are 1-20 since Week 10 in 2007.
Including a 41-9 shellacking by Indianapolis in 2004, the Lions are 18-19-2 all-time against the Colts' franchise. Detroit is allowing an average of 31.8 points per game in 2008 worst in the league and second worst in franchise history (33.9 in 1948).
Indianapolis beat Cincinnati, 35-3, last weekend and has now won six straight games after beginning the season by losing four of its first seven contests. The Colts' 32-point win in Week 14 was their largest since beating Tennessee by the same margin (35-3) in December of 2005.
The Colts are 16-4 in their last 20 games against NFC squads, but two of those losses have come this season (29-13 to the Bears and 34-14 to the Packers).
Reggie Wayne has averaged just 42.7 receiving yards per game in his last three contests (79.0 ypg in first 10 games) and needs 82 yards against the Lions to record his fifth consecutive 1000-yard season.
With 84 receiving yards against the Vikes last weekend, Calvin Johnson has now gone over 1,000 yards for the first time in his NFL career. Johnson also had a TD last Sunday and has scored nine of Detroit's 22 offensive TDs in 2008.
Indianapolis is now the second team in NFL history to record a 6+ game win streak in at least five straight seasons (SF 1989-95).
The Colts have scored 53 points on their first possessions of the second half this season most in the league.
The Packers dropped a 24-21 decision to the Texans at home last weekend their third straight and fifth loss in the last six games overall. Green Bay is now 0-5 in games decided by four points or less in 2008 worst in the league.
Green Bay is 2-1 all-time vs. the Jaguars and has won both games played in Jacksonville. The last time the Packers lost four straight games overall was in Weeks 1-4 in 2005.
The Jaguars' disappointing season continued with their 23-10 loss to the Bears in Chicago last weekend. Jacksonville has dropped four straight games and been outscored by a combined 107-53 in those contests.
Jacksonville has now been officially eliminated from postseason contention for the second time in the last three seasons and will not partake in the playoffs for the seventh time since the 2000 campaign.
David Garrard needs 74 passing yards this weekend to reach the 3,000-yard plateau for the first time in his career and become the first Jaguars QB to have such a season since Mark Brunell threw for 3,309 yards in 2001. Including last week's loss, Garrard is 7-2 all-time vs. NFC teams (1-2 this season).
Ryan Grant had 104 yards on the ground against the Texans in Week 14, leaving him just 20 yards shy of hitting 1,000 rush yards for the first time. Grant's 100-yard performance was the eighth of his career and the Packers are now 6-2 when he has such a game.
The Packers have picked off at least one opponent pass in 10 of 13 games this season and with 18 INT in 2008, now have 60 total picks since the beginning of 2006 second most in football behind the Ravens (67).
Jacksonville players have dropped a total of 30 catchable passes this season tied with Cleveland for most in the league.
The Chargers kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 34-7 victory over the Raiders last Thursday night. San Diego will be eliminated from postseason contention with either one more loss/tie or a Bronco victory/tie in the last three games of 2008.
San Diego has lost four straight road games overall and is just 2-9 since 1997 when taking on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. That said, the Chargers have beaten the Chiefs three of the last four times the two teams have met (whether in SD or KC).
Kansas City gave the Broncos a run for their money in Week 14, but eventually lost the game, 24-17, in Denver last weekend. With the loss, the Chiefs fell to 2-11 for just the second time in franchise history (also in 1997).
The Chiefs couldn't get to Jay Cutler last week and have now gone four straight games without a quarterback sack (franchise-long since 1982). Kansas City needs eight sacks in its last three contests to avoid posting the fewest by any team in a single 16-game season since sacks became an official stat in 1982.
LaDainian Tomlinson had one of his best games of the season last weekend (91 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries). LT now has 122 career rushing TDs and is just one shy of tying Marcus Allen for No. 2 on the all-time list. Tomlinson's Week 14 touchdown also gave him sole possession of No. 5 on the all-time list of overall TDs scored (137).
Larry Johnson is averaging 115.3 rush yards per game in his last three home games and has rushed for at least 100 yards in three of his last four games against the Chargers (117.5 ypg in those contests).
Tyler Thigpen leads all NFL quarterbacks with 285 rush yards in 2008 and last week set a franchise record for Chiefs QBs in that category (passed Steve Fuller who had 274 yards in 1980).
Antonio Gates has 49 touchdowns since joining the league in 2003 most among all NFL tight ends. Tony Gonzalez has 501 catches for 6030 yards since the beginning of 2003 both numbers are best among all NFL tight ends.
The Niners took out the Jets, 24-14, at home last weekend and have now won two straight and three of their last four games overall. The last time San Francisco posted any 3-game win streak was when it won the last game of 2006 and the first two contests of 2007.
With Arizona's win over the Rams, San Francisco was eliminated from postseason consideration for the sixth consecutive season its longest playoff drought since going eight seasons without a trip to the postseason from 1973-80.
Miami went to Toronto last weekend and beat the Bills, 16-3, improving to 8-5 for the first time since 2003. The Dolphins were 0-13 through this point last season. Miami has now won six of its last seven games overall.
Chad Pennington recorded his fifth 100+ rating of the season last weekend against the Bills and the Dolphins are now 4-1 in 2008 when he has such a game. The only season in which Pennington had more 100+ rating games was 2002 (7 games).
The Dolphins held the ball for 37:31 against the Bills in Week 14 their highest time of possession in any game since Week 17 of 2005 against the Patriots. Miami is 7-0 this season when winning the TOP battle.
Frank Gore suffered an ankle injury against the Jets last Sunday, but has not been ruled out of this game with the Dolphins yet. Before leaving the game, Gore had 52 rush yards and is now just 22 yards shy of hitting the 1,000-yard plateau for the third straight campaign.
Shaun Hill completed a career-high 29 passes last week in route to victory and has now posted a combined QB rating of 106.5 in his last four games best of any quarterback in football since Week 11. Hill is 5-2 in seven career starts as a Niner QB.
Miami's players have dropped just 13 catchable passes in 2008 tied for second fewest in the league.
The Bills' postseason chances took a big hit with their 16-3 loss to the Dolphins last weekend. Buffalo has dropped six of seven overall and scored just three points in each of last two games. The last time a Bills squad scored three points or fewer in back-to-back games was Weeks 16-17 in 2003.
Despite dropping the first meeting of the season with the Jets (26-17), Buffalo is 5-3 in its last eight games vs. New York, including two straight wins at the Meadowlands.
The Jets were beaten, 24-14, by the 49ers in San Francisco last Sunday and have now lost two straight following a 5-game win streak. The game marked Brett Favre's first regular-season loss at Candlestick Park (now 7-1).
New York is averaging 33.9 points in its wins this season (highest in the AFC) and just 16.6 points in its losses. The Jets are 2-13 when being held under 20 points since the beginning of 2007.
Lee Evans had just 23 yards on three catches last Sunday and is sitting 87 yards shy of putting up his second 1,000-yard season in the last three campaigns. Evans hasn't had a touchdown catch in a career-high tying seven straight games (also 1/2/05-10/16/05).
Trent Edwards missed last week's game with a sore groin and J.P. Losman got his first start of the 2008 campaign. Edwards is currently listed as day-to-day with his injury and could miss his second straight start this weekend. Losman is 1-1 with a 101.5 rating in two career starts against the Jets.
Thomas Jones recorded his 12th rushing touchdown and 14th TD overall this season, tying the Jets' all-time record in both categories (rush TDs and overall TDs). Jones has 13 of those scores in his last eight games most of any player in football since Week 6.
The Jets have had 28 drives of five minutes or more this season most in football. New York had just 22 such drives in 2007.
The Seahawks led the Patriots, 21-13, after three quarters last Sunday, but allowed 11 fourth-quarter points to the Pats and lost the game, 24-21. Seattle has now dropped six straight and nine of its last 10 contests overall the last time a Seahawk squad lost as many as seven straight games was in 1992 (eight straight losses).
Including a 37-13 victory earlier this season, Seattle has beaten the Rams seven straight times by an average of over 11 points per contest.
The Rams got walloped, 34-10, in Arizona last weekend their seventh straight loss overall. St. Louis hasn't scored over 16 points in any of its last seven games and is just 5-24 since the beginning of 2007 (worst in the league).
St. Louis hasn't scored a rushing touchdown in its last seven games and its 180 runs since last reaching paydirt on the ground is the longest current streak in the league.
Seneca Wallace had the best game of his NFL career last weekend against the Patriots and set a new career mark with a 128.9 rating (71.4 comp%, 3 TDs, 0 INT) in the contest. The last Seahawk QB not named Matt Hasselbeck to record a better single-game rating was Trent Dilfer (140.8) vs. San Diego in the 2001 season finale.
Rookie tight end, John Carlson has 46 catches for 525 yards in 2008 both team highs. The only player in franchise history to lead the Seahawks in both categories as a rookie was Steve Largent in 1976.
Steven Jackson scored his first touchdown since Week 7 on a 3-yard pass from Marc Bulger last weekend the Rams' only TD of any kind since Week 11 against the Niners. St. Louis has just 14 total touchdowns on the season fewest in the league.
St. Louis has 33 points off of opponent turnovers this season lowest in the league. On the flipside, opponents have tallied 109 points off of Rams' giveaways in 2008 most in the league.
The Broncos inched closer to their first division title (and playoff berth) since 2005 with a 24-17 come-from-behind win over the Chiefs last Sunday. Denver has now won two straight and four of its last five games overall after beginning the season 4-4.
Denver needs to only win or tie one of its last three games (or any San Diego loss or tie) to secure the AFC West crown. The Broncos and Panthers have met just one previous time a 34-0 Denver victory in 1997.
The Panthers took a 10-3 lead into halftime and went on to beat Tampa Bay Monday night, taking over sole possession of first place in the NFC South. Carolina is now 8-0 this season when leading at the half.
DeAngelo Williams rushed for 186 yards last Sunday and has now gone over the 1,000-yard plateau for the first time in his career. With 1,141 yards on the ground in 2008, Williams is already No. 2 on Carolina's all-time single-season rushing list and just 303 yards shy of tying Stephen Davis' record of 1,444 yards set in 2003.
Denver is 3-0 against the NFC South this season and has beaten four straight NFC squads overall. None of the Broncos victories during their 4-game win streak vs. the NFC have been by more than four points.
Jay Cutler recorded his fifth 100+ rating game of the season last weekend and the 10th of his career overall. Denver is now 10-0 all-time when Cutler's rating is over 100. Cutler has 10 TD passes in the fourth quarter this season most of any QB in football.
Steve Smith had his third straight 100-yard receiving game last weekend and now has six such performances in his last eight contests overall. With his 38-yard touchdown reception against the Bucs in Week 14, Smith has 51 total TDs in a Panther uniform most of any player in franchise history.
Carolina rushed for a franchise-high 299 yards last Sunday against Tampa Bay coupled with their 264 rush-yard performance in Week 11 vs. the Lions, the Panthers are one of three teams in football to record two 250+ rush yard games in 2008 (Atlanta and Tennessee are the others).
The Steelers beat the Cowboys, 20-13, last weekend and have now won four straight and five of their last six games overall. Pittsburgh is currently riding a 4-game road winning streak, outscoring opponents by over 18 points per game in those contests.
With its 10-point come-from-behind win over Dallas, Pittsburgh has won six games when trailing by seven or more points this season including all four victories during its current win streak. The Steelers were trailing the Ravens, 13-3, in these teams first meeting of 2008 and came back to win that game, 23-20, on a Jeff Reed field goal in overtime.
Baltimore defeated Washington, 24-10, last Sunday and has now won three straight and seven of eight games overall. The Ravens had just 12 first downs against the Redskins their first win since October 2004 (vs. Buffalo) when recording 12 or fewer first downs.
Including their Week 14 victory, the Ravens are allowing just 10 points per game at M&T Bank Stadium this season lowest of any team in football on its home field in 2008.
The Ravens are averaging 29.8 points per game since Week 7 highest of any squad in the league. Baltimore has tallied 316 points in 2008 after managing just 275 points all of last season.
Ben Roethlisberger recorded his 49th career regular-season win last weekend and this Sunday is looking to become just the 2nd Steeler QB with 50+ wins in the Super Bowl era (Bradshaw-107).
Derrick Mason had three catches for 60 yards last Sunday and now sits just 105 receiving yards shy of 10,000 for his career. When Mason gets there, he will be the 31st player in NFL history to do so.
Pittsburgh will clinch the AFC North title with a win over Baltimore on Sunday. Including 2007, the Steelers have won their division three times since 2002 and the last time they posted back-to-back divisional titles was 2001 and 2002.
Minnesota beat Detroit, 20-16, last Sunday and has now won three straight and five of its last six games overall. The Vikings will clinch the NFC North with a win coupled with a Bears' loss this Sunday.
Gus Frerotte (7-for-10, 70 yds, 2 INT) was injured in the second quarter against the Lions last weekend and was replaced by Tarvaris Jackson who finished the contest, completing 8-of-10 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Frerotte's back is described as being "very sore" and it's still unknown which QB will be under center to start against the Cardinals.
Arizona clinched its first playoff berth since 1998 and first division title since 1975 with a 34-10 victory over the Rams in Week 14. The Cardinals are now 5-0 vs. their divisional foes this season and are guaranteed to host their first postseason game since 1947 when they played in Chicago.
Arizona has scored 30 points or more in six of 13 games this season and is currently the highest scoring team in football. The Cardinals are averaging 28.6 points per game in 2008 their highest since 1949 when the Chicago Cardinals averaged 30.0 ppg.
With his 279-yard performance against the Rams last weekend, Kurt Warner went over the 4,000-yard mark for the third time in his career and first time since he was with St. Louis in 2001. Warner's 99.1 rating in 2008 is best among all NFC quarterbacks and second to Philip Rivers (102.0) in the league.
Arizona returned two St. Louis turnovers (a fumble and an interception) for touchdowns last Sunday giving the Cards five total return TDs in 2008 and 13 since the beginning of 2007 (3rd most in football over the last two seasons).
With 102 yards on the ground against Detroit last week, Adrian Peterson has topped 100 rush yards in two straight and six of his last eight games overall. In those eight games, Peterson has rolled up a total 961 rushing yards an average of 120.1 yards per game.
Ironically, Minnesota has 45 rushes for negative yardage this season most in the NFC and second most in football (Titans-53).
The Patriots rallied from 11 points down to the Seahawks and won, 24-21, in Seattle last weekend. New England is currently on the outside looking in on a postseason berth and has alternated wins and losses in each of its last seven contests (WLWLWLW).
Matt Cassel engineered his second career fourth-quarter comeback last Sunday (also vs. STL in Week 8) and didn't throw an interception for the fifth time in 12 starts this season the Pats are 4-1 in those games.
The Raiders dropped a 34-7 decision in San Diego last Thursday night and have now lost two straight and six of seven games overall. Oakland has been 4-9 or worse through 13 games each season since it reached the Super Bowl in the 2002 campaign.
These two teams last met in 2005 (a 30-20 Patriot win) and Oakland is 5-2 overall vs. New England since 1981. The last time the Silver and Black lost a home game to the Patriots was 30 years ago in 1978 (won three straight at home since).
Wes Welker recorded his fourth 100-yard receiving game in his last five contests in Week 14 and went over 1,000 yards for the season in the process. Welker has now posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and his 208 catches since the beginning of last season are most among all players in football.
Oakland has just one receiving touchdown in its last six games and just seven total on the season fewest among all teams in football. The Raiders have scored just 13 offensive TDs all season long tied for fewest in the league.

New York has won four straight and 13 of its last 14 games away from the Meadowlands (including the 2007 postseason). These two teams have alternated wins at Texas Stadium each year since 1999 Dallas won last season, 45-35.

Justin Tuck sacked Donovan McNabb once in Week 14 and now has at least one sack in three straight games (4 total sacks in those contests). Tuck has taken down opposing QBs 9.5 times in his last eight games tied for second most in the league since Week 7 (DeMarcus Ware and Joey Porter have 10).
