Football BAG WAGS Football CONTEST West Brighton student hits 13 of 15; Wags goes 6-9 and 225 entrants beat him suny West Brighton resident Ryan Scanlon leans toward the underdogs, and that approach paid off for the 19-year-old student last week as he captured the Advance's weekly Bag Wags Football Contest title.

"I'm kind of shocked," said Scanlon. "It's amazing, really."

Scanlon negotiated his way through an upset-heavy NFL weekend, compiling a 13-2 record and running away from the field.

"I picked the Seahawks to beat the Jets," he offered by example. "There's no reasonable explanation for the Seahawks beating the Jets.

"But they did."

For his efforts, Scanlon wins a $75 gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Last week there were 325 entrants with 225 topping Advance Football prognosticator Jim Waggoner's 6-9 record. For the season, there have been 5,686 entrants and 1,937 winners.
