Fans eager to spend a day studying the Dallas Cowboys at training camp will have plenty of opportunities.

The Cowboys released the schedule for camp Tuesday. It includes 11 two-a-days, with the sessions starting at 8:50 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Players are scheduled to report to San Antonio by July 28. A "kickoff event" will be held that night at the Alamodome.

Dallas will hold its first practice at 2:15 p.m. on July 29. The Cowboys will practice for 15 straight days before traveling to Oakland, Calif., on Aug. 12 for the preseason opener against the Raiders on Aug. 13.

The team breaks camp Aug. 19 to return to Irving.

All practices will be at the dome, where the club also worked out in air-conditioned comfort in 2002, 2003 and 2007.

A scheduling conflict forced Dallas to hold camp in Oxnard, Calif., last year. The team is contractually bound to use San Antonio as its training base through 2011.

"We are glad to be back there," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said last month. "We had great practices there two years ago. We came out of San Antonio ready to play, and we started out really well. I thought part of it was working indoors, because the heat is tough. You can't get as good a practice as we can in San Antonio."

The Cowboys advanced to the playoffs after the 2007 regular season with an NFC-best 13-3 record. Last season, Dallas went 9-7 and missed the playoffs after it got crushed 44-6 by Philadelphia in the regular-season finale.

"We are definitely excited going back to San Antonio, being around all the fans," Cowboys linebacker Bradie James said. "There will be a lot of people there, so we will practice well. That helps us out when you get in the dog days of camp, and you see all those fans out there."

Practices are open to the public and free of charge. The team gets rent-free use of the Alamodome, with the city retaining all profits from concessions and parking, which is $10.

Jim Mery, the city's assistant director of convention and sports facilities, said he hopes to talk to the Cowboys during camp about a contract extension.

"Our citizens enjoy it," Mery said of camp.
