TRAINING CAMP
by Florida Times-Union
As a rookie, are you happy with the amount of reps you're getting? As far as that, I come with the same attitude everyday. I kind of zone out. I'm locked in, and I feel like I'm in every play because visually I'm just watching, asking questions, trying to put myself in the game situation. As far as reps, I don't even notice when I'm in and when I'm out because, like I said, I'm always in it. I think the coaches want to see what everybody can do - what everybody's capable of doing - in tough situations.
Before being drafted, you lived with Maurice Jones-Drew. How was that experience? Living down there with Maurice, that's another privilege. I'm just blessed all the way around. He helped me out as far as on the field and off the field - little situations that I would possibly be faced with at this next level, the expectations. He's smart. He's very smart. He's a student of the game, and so I'm constantly asking him questions.
How would you say you're doing so far at camp? So far, I think I'm doing OK. I have a lot of room for improvement. Every single day, I'm forcing myself to get better at something. I have to learn something every single day, otherwise it doesn't feel right. I'm constantly learning - schemes, protections.
Because of where you were drafted (seventh round), do you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder? Everybody carries a chip. I think everybody should carry a chip to an extent, but I think you need to know how to control that chip. You've got to use that to drive you, not use that to anger you and push you to make mistakes. That has to keep you hungry.
What do you think of running backs coach Kennedy Pola? I really respect him as a coach and how he coaches. He coaches with passion, and he makes you want to perform. ... He really brings the best out of us.
