York confident team, Crabtree will make a deal
by John Crumpacker, Chronicle Staff Writer , The San Francisco Chronicle
"We'll get it done at some point," York said Friday before the game. "They've had discussions. We'll get it done. We're all in."
However, the ceiling for Crabtree was apparently set when the Packers signed the ninth pick, defensive tackle B.J. Raji , for $28 million over five years, with $18 million guaranteed.
Crabtree's agent, Eugene Parker , is reportedly looking for Darrius Heyward-Bey money. The Raiders signed the wideout for $38.25 million over five years, with $23.5 million guaranteed. The 49ers do not seem inclined to give Crabtree more than Raji, unless they can sign him to a six-year deal with a total that would be worth more than Raji's contract.
Start game-planning now: Greg Manusky 's life just got a little more complicated with the Philadelphia Eagles' signing of Michael Vick .
The 49ers play the Eagles in Philadelphia on Dec. 20, by which time Vick will probably be on the active roster, and Manusky must come up with a game plan to deal with the greatest athlete ever to play the quarterback position in pro Football.
Night off: Veteran kicker Joe Nedney did not have to fight Candlestick's troublesome winds. He was given the night off. Camp kicker Alex Romero converted a 38-yard field goal in the first quarter but later missed an extra point attempt.
Briefly: RB Thomas Clayton sprained his right knee on a run in the fourth quarter when the leg buckled. He was taken off on a cart with 10:25 to play. ... FB Zak Keasey injured his forearm in the first quarter and did not play the remainder of the game. When he was in, he blocked poorly and was responsible for Shaun Hill getting sacked twice. ... Missing on the 49ers' radio broadcast on KNBR was play-by-play man Ted Robinson . He was in Florida with family after the death of his father. Robinson's place in the booth was taken by longtime Bay Area broadcaster Joe Fonzi .
